Marquez's fault for agreeing to it.

dude the contract was changed the week of the fight wasn't it?

at least cotto had months to prepare and he knew coming in what weight they were fighting at.

pacquiao didn't go , "hey , i can make 145 this week. here's $600,000 and you have to come in under 145 too."

Did Marquez agree? Yes. If he thought it was unfair he shouldn't have agreed to the new contract.

Really? Because if I remember right he said either 145 or 147 if Pacquiao wanted his title or Cotto would walk. A few days later, Cotto had a sudden change of heart?

it's a little different agreeing to something before signing than changing the contract a week or so before the fight.

the guy signed the original contract months before.

the guy already spent 4-5 months promoting a fight.

the guy already spent 8-10 weeks in training camp.

then if he don't sign a new renegotiated contract , he doesn't get paid. not only that he has to go through another training camp and the same thing all over again after he finds another opponent.

that's not renegotiation. that's practically extortion.

Marquez is a big boy who can make his own decisions.
