Sometimes I think Whitaker skills and defense is underrated. A lot people didn't appreciate his style and others just don't know how great he truly was...
yeah man you are right, beside that pernell was much more exciting than floyd, i mean pernell was a defensive genius, floyd does blocks punches with his shoulder roll stuff but when the going gets tough Floyd will run and run and run, and in the same situation pernell would fight inside brawl a little bit and will always fight..
the only reason why pernell lost to tito was because he was old, he wasnt the same, was on drugs big time and his skill and reflexes were gone, you could say so becuase he was flat footed, a prime or close to his prime pernell would outbox tito just like oscar, winky and hopkins did

I don't think people underrated Pernell skills or defense. IMO he truly not apprecitated because of his style and attitude and on top of that he wasn't known for getting KO's. Pernell will never be truly recognized by most for how great he actually was which is sad. But he will forever be ranked in majority of peoples ATG list in the top 15-20 range which says alot. I see a lot of fights on ESPN classic of people who should never be up there for real. They show Pernell fights but they could actually show a lot more than they do.
It is hard to pick against a prime Whitaker. So I rather not say. I would say that Tito was capable of dropping Whitaker. Whitaker use to like to show boat and put his hands down upper body movement to avoid punches which he was just awesome at. But, I think Tito could land something while Whitaker is doing that and score a flash KD. But, I think that will be all the success Tito would have in the fight...

you are right i agree with you
Show me any fight of PBF when the going got tough he ran. IMO he never ran against Baldomir. Did PBF use more movement that most of his other fights yes he did but that didn't really start until the 5-6 round which he stated after the that he had hurt his hand. But that still was not what is considered running. What I long considered running in boxing is what De la Hoya did in the last rounds against Tito and what Dirrell did in his fight against Stevens. That is running PBF had never done that.
Please list those examples.

Thats what ive been saying.
Whitaker took more chances, stayed closer to opponents and wanted to fight more.
Therefore he got hit more.
Floyd is so defensively minded he doesnt take any risks. The win is the most important thing for him. Not HOW he wins.
Whitaker IMO could do more defensively than Floyd. Block, slip, duck, squat, run backwards like he did against Oscar. He liked to show off.

I wouldnt say Floyd 'runs'. But he wont engage if he can help it.
I would say he slips away and and stays at range to make his opponents miss to tire them out and frustrate them.
