I should clear up one of the statements because someone associated with Khan's team just sent me an email advising me this guy is not a member of their team and they are in no way affiliated with any of his statements. He is some fanatic from Chicago who probably stalks Amir outside of his window.Comment

Wow. A member of Team Khan hiding behind a fake account. And a member of Khan's team who doesn't know what he's talking about. I stated the facts. Khan is a talented guy but he is not Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe or Naseem Hamed. Khan himself, not me, but Khan himself said the British fans were so harsh on him that he planned to leave the country. Now those fans will travel here to watch him fight? Ummmm no.
This guy seems to forget 2009 was 2009 and 2010 is 2010. HBO has new budget guidelines and they are much tighter for 2010.
And please let me know what my position is? If HBO wants to pay that much for the doubleheader, that's up to them. I could care less about that. At no point did I advise HBO not to pay. I do think Khan may have to shift some of his British money to make the event happen, but that's Khan's decision.
PS: plz don't ban me.Comment

People love him in the UK. There are always gonna be some haters but the big majority loves him. Amir made that statement after the MAB fight where he got boo'd because MAB is so popular in the UK. Just watch the Salita fight, it was not only sold out, Amir also only got cheers. And plz don't compare Amir with Calzaghe, Calzaghe doesn't have a big fanbase at all.

They need AMir to be on 24/7. If he was sparring Manny VS Mayweather, then Khan would become pretty darn famous.
Porter has some fans from 24/7 already, but Khan is IMO better..
Khan was making about the same as my estimate in the UK and he wanted to have the names and that's why he went to GBP. However this messed up for both.
GBP should put their money in if they have faith, and it seems they do not.Comment

b) Styles make fights. Kotelnik has a superb chin and a very tight defence. Maidana is a stylistic nightmare for Khan, which is why Roach insisted on ducking him for an entire year.
Maidana is much more talented than Prescott, and hits just as hard, and Khan hasn't fought a big puncher since he lost to Prescott. Until he does, the question marks over his chin and defence will remain. And bribing someone to not fight you for an entire year just sucks.Last edited by Dave Rado; 02-18-2010, 05:42 PM.Comment

a) It was extremely close, and many though Maidana deserved the decision.

No-one bribed Maidanna, no-one forced him not to fight Khan.Comment

Hopefully, Ortiz and Maidana rematch and Ortiz wins and faces Amir. That would be a huge PPV fight worth millions. 2 young guys in their prime for the 140 lb. championship!Comment

GBP bribed him. Bribing isn't the same as forcing. What GBP did was tell him they would give him three HBO slots this year if he promised not to enforce his mandatory, and they would give him zero HBO slots if he didn't make that promise. Which is both bribery and blackmail.Last edited by Dave Rado; 02-18-2010, 06:38 PM.Comment
