Golden Boy is ****** to keep giving Paulie big paydays, they should have Khan fight Campbell and Ortiz fight Mike Alvarado.

I dont think GBP was being unreasonable. I think they are taking a risk. They know Khan isnt a name but they think he has Naz type upside and if he looks great in this debut then he could legitmatly turn into a goldmine. The problem is getting this 1st fight out the way. They are probably trying hard right now to convince HBO that they think he is the goods and could be a huge attraction so they should take the risk along with them, since they have done a ton of business together. I think that makes sense to HBO but they also remember Khan getting KTFO by a bum in 20 seconds. Its just the definition of high risk/high reward. In the end I think HBO will bite and alot of it maybe due to the fact that Khan has Roach so they trust he will be at his best no matter what

I think it's a little ****** of GBP to guarantee Khan that amount of money from HBO right off the bat.

Some people seem to think that if a popular British fighter goes to America then he'll make a lot of money for both himself and everyone else. But I think Hatton was a one-off, or at least something that isn't likely to be repeated anytime soon. He brought with him a lot of UK fans, but Khan isn't as popular as Hatton, and even then I remember RH having fights in America that weren't sell outs and didn't do all that well. The Collazo and Urango fights hardly set the world alight.

People need to remember that both of Calzaghe's fights in America failed to do as well as expected, and that's with Calzaghe being more popular than Khan and having a better resume and longer career. Those fights were also against bigger names than Paulie Malignaggi.

Khan making $1 million on HBO in the states is ridiculous. If anything, Paulie is the draw now, he's gained a following after he became something of a Youtube sensation last year. Paulie should make more than Khan.

Nah, Khan's glaring weakness is his chin, for that reason, Paulie's a "safe" opponent. I would like a Campbell fight though, he's tough and dangerous, but he'd be too slow to beat Khan.

GBP would be ****** to put in Ortiz against Alvarado at this point. Mike's been inactive, but the kid is a beast (Top Rank would probably put him in there against Ortiz when Alvarado shakes off the rust). An aggressive pressure fighter with good punching power is not a good recipe for Victor right now. Alvarado's even bigger than Ortiz at 140 too (btw check out Mike's KO of Clottey... sick).
