a little bit of both. Leaning more towards resume. If you were able to beat great fighters in your resume trumps having the greatest technique.

You can be a great fighter & not have the greatest skill set. You can have the great skill set but NOT have a great resume.

I voted for resume but I'm about to go Teddy Atlas on you guys and say that how a fighter reacts to adversity is a large part of what defines greatness. Like Ali-Frazer 1, Ali-Liston 1, Leonard-Hearns 1, Holmes-Shavers.

Note: This is only applicable to fights between elite fighters,
      so Gatti-Ward 1 can't count lol

        Resume first, skill second.

Resumes show you fought the toughest opponents in your time, anyone can look skilled when your facing bums.

I was in the minority vote.

Ask yourself: is Oscar delahoya a greater fighter than Vernon Forrest or Winky Wright?

I'd also say both but if only one ... it would be resume. Simply, in the long run, you cannot have an exceptional resume with the necessary skills to achieve it.

Who you beat, how you beat them. Without skill you can't beat ****. Without balls, you only get to beat ****.

You may have the best skill set, but without the resume to validate those skill set it doesn't mean ****. An extraordinary fighter proving his extraordinary skills by beating all comers makes for an ATG. But an ordinary fighter accomplishing extraordinary feats, winning against the odds, taking the best challenges and beating them..now that captures the hearts of the masses and gives birth to a legend.

skills + ability if not used are just potential and could never be equated alone with greatness it however could be used for p4p arguments, while imho resume + record speak for itself in any greatness or ATG discussion...
