Ali is CLEARLY a devout ******...moreso now than ever...he isnt some jailhouse ******...he didnt do this for publicity...it wasn't an excuse...come on...he's as REAL as they get...he gave it ALL up (Gene Kilroy used to sometimes have to bring him and Belinda groceries in the late 1960's when he was away from boxing and not making money)...could have sold Elijah out and made money another way...no need now at thi spoint to keep a ruse going...Ali is REAL and true and it's been proven over and over again....

Ali didn't dodge anything.Refusing to be used as a puppet for the governments agenda and risking a prison sentence and serious backlash against he and his family for the entire world to witness isn't dodging or avoiding. Not once did he attempt to leave the country like the real draft dodgers did.

Vietnam was a ****** pointless war which resulted in the pointless death of tens of thousands of American soldiers who died for no real cause.

that aside, him draft dodging has absolutely NOTHING to do with his boxing career and when people look at his BOXING CAREER that should not be taken into account into how he is viewed as a BOXER. he was one of the greatest. period.
So are YOU telling me that if right now in 2009 you were 25 years old and u lived in a state where u werent allowed to eat in a McDonald's because of your skin color...your mother was called names on a daily basis on her way to work and no police would do anything about it...etc etc...you would still feel that you should serve, protect and defend a country that allowed this to happen to you??????? THINK about that, man...imagine what it must have been like...your own government allowed this to go on!!!

100% real talk throughout the entire post. Once I figure out how to give you a green box I'll be doing that.

The fact that a large majority of people can't wrap their head around a concept as simple as that tells you why a particular segment of the united states thinks everything is "kosher" while another segment screams out that they need help but never get that help on a scale that would actually change their position in the country. It's also why one particular segment of the country can repeatedly be heard saying, "Things were so much better back in the day" and not understand what kind of distance that creates between them and another segment of the population.

Does the fact that many Germans were not behind Hitler and his wars make them unpatriotic or just sensible ? If US foreign policy is crazy and you don't support it that makes you a patriot. IMO The Vietnam war did neither the US or Vietnamese any good and with hind sight Ali was right.

ive removed my previous posts. not because im ashamed of what ive written but b/c this is inappropriate discussion in this forum. this is a ****ing boxing forum, not fox news channel. there is a non boxing forum where we could continue to talk about this. this is part of the reason boxingscene is starting to go downhill
