I didn't mean Diaz, I should have said his last three fights.

No one expected the fights against Cotto and Hatton to be anywhere near as easy for him as they were; quite a few experts picked Cotto to win; a few picked Hatton to win; and almost everyone expected both fights to be very competitive.

The rematch with Castillo was close for the first nine rounds or so. Then Mayweather won the last few rounds overwhelmingly. I didn't say it was close overall, just that it was close until Mayweather pulled away at the end. And their first fight was not only close, but many thought Castillo deserved the decision.

In the Oscar fight, Mayweather pulled away at the end, and it was a clear win for him; but in most people's opinions he was losing at the half way point, and in the second half of the fight, Oscar gassed and his workrate went down. I still only had Floyd winning by about three rounds, so it was far from being one-sided.

      • Manny Pacquiao is the #1 Welter Weight in the world.

And Floyd enjoys beating the top dogs and taking titles.

        Let The Games Begin.

With the same hand and foot speed, coming in at weird and unorthodox angles you don't see often in boxing, possessing a solid chin and can take wicked body punches, withing gassing out in the later rounds and explosive power on both hands as Pac?

          Yeah, I thought so...

I wouldnt be surprised if Mayweather is the favorite to win. You are correct we both were wrong when picking Cotto. More so myself because I pretty much said it would be easy. But that was basing on different factors. Mayweatghers style is something compleyetly different than that of Cotto. I assumed Cotto was too big and strong and that if they DID get into a brawl power would be in favor of Cotto.

Picking Mayweather is all based on skill and ring smarts. Pac is great but not Mayweather great. Pac's style is perfect for Mayweather. Cotto's style was perfect for the fans. He stands there toe to toe, which makes it exciting.

As far as being the overwhelming favourite. Thats most of Mayweather's career. Pac's just now becoming that overwhelming favourite in every fight due to his improving skills.

Im not saying either guy wins easy but I am saying the more Pac throws the better it is for a technical boxer like Mayweather. The less Pac throws just makes its an easier night for Mayweather. The only problem Mayweather will have will be the southpaw power. Speed and agression wont be especially if he cant hit or hurt Mayweather from the start. Mayweather turns this into a boxing clinic which will be borning to a casual or MMA fan.
I don't believe Pac has improved much.I like him, because he brings an exciting fight to watch that is worth EVERY PPV dollar, but his last 4 fights have been an illusion of sorts. He is shining against one armed fighters-most who are left hand dominant or converted. In fact, his last 4 opponents may as well have a criteria-they are all left handed,in the final stages of thier careers, rush in-come forward fighters that don't have a straight right hand-not one of them! They also have to shrink down (Cotto hasn't been at that weight for 3 years, and Oscar hasn't for around 11 years!).Esentially, his last 3 fights have been against the bigger names, but not the best ability.BTW- I picked against his last 4 opponents.I don't think its coincidence that his last 3 opponents have a rare style/stance (left hand dominant that fight out of an orthodox position). You literally have to go back 5 fights ago when Manny fought a right handed fighter in Juan Manuel Marquez in a fight I thought Manny lost.
In every fight he has recently been in,he has had the same base style that will lend him problems against someone who can adapt. He fights off of a rhythm bouncing forward, and moves to the side. Now its great that he has an A game offense, but against a defensive fighter like Floyd I have a hard time believing Manny will have the same success as Manny did against the previous 4.
People are/and have gotten too caught up in the hype of his last 4 fights against these limited fighters and have ignored fights where he looked bad.I also believe Floyd's power is being under-rated.I am looking for Floyd to dominate and make a statement-the only chance I am giving Manny is within the first 3-4 rounds. If Manny doesnt finish business by then,Mayweather will have figured his style out (as he always does) and make it a horrible night for Pacquiao.I want to add I do not dislike either fighter, this is just a perspective from a fan of the sport-not a biased fan of a fighter....

The man called pretty boy floyd will soon became a bloody boy Gayweather. Hahahahahahahahahaha

Floyd on the other hand fought little Marquez who all boxing fans know DID NOT belong north of 135. That was a given for Floyd.

Look at the level of competition of both fighters in the last 3 years. Pac beats Floyd in that department and lets not forget the 1year and half lay off. That is really going to affect Floyd.

Floyd is going to overwhelmed and confused possibly even frustrated when realizes Pac is just a BEAST...
did you ever stop to think that Manny may be coming into this fight a bit too soon after the fight with Cotto and that by the time they fight Floyd will have had 6 months to prepare for this,as opposed to Manny's 2-3? That is not a lot of time to prepare for a fighter like Floyd who is very adaptable.Full props to Manny for taking this one.

I was responding to statements like "they said Zab Judah would be too slick and fast". Boxing experts didn't say that, they all picked Floyd to win, which is why I said Floyd was the overwhelming favourite to win those fights.

Also, Cotto had proved he could counter speed with his jab and counter-punching skills (Mosley, Judah). But I under-estimated Pac.

Obviously that's the reason for doing so, but I believe Pac will be by far his toughest test so far (and vice versa), based on the fact that Pac keeps performing better than anyone expects him to, and based on Roach having given him fantastic game plans for his last few fights. His movement and footwork were superb against Cotto, his accuracy was incredible, and Cotto didn't see most of the punches coming.

                  We'll see. I don't think it'll be a clinic though.
