From what i saw in an interview that was posted here before, Floyd told Margarito that "it's just business". And when Floyd was asked why he didn't want to fight Margarito, he kinda ducked the question (no pun intended), and said something that Margarito is a "young fighter".
Anyone in here think margarito beats Floyd Mayweather???

And, bro that is all a myth. They had an agreement before the fight. But, both had to win. When Zab lost everything was voided. So for that fight to have to go through Zab had to take less money. But, if Floyd really wanted to he could of fought somebody else.Comment

You just killed yourself right here. That just proves my point. Even Steven A asked Floyd when the Margo fight would take place. Also adding, that is the fight fans want to see.Comment

OH BTW, my answer to the OP is yes, Margarito can and would beat Floyd. Too much reach and power, and Floyd's punches wouldn't hurt Margarito.
Asking the crowd and getting no response doesn't really prove anything. What if the crowd was clueless about boxing.Originally Posted by King Burner

Mayweather then proceeed to ask fans in the crowd who Margarito was..........No one could tell him.Comment

Bro boxing fans knew who Margarito was.
I don't understand why someone who says they have been watching boxing since there was 9 or say that they are knowledgeable boxing fans. Could possibly say Margarito was a nobody? It makes no sense...Comment

I still can't believe you used that STeven A interview as an example. Most the folks in that crown probaly didn't even know who Floyd was if not told. Remember, Floyd was not the headliner, just a guest (can't remember who the headliner was).
Plus, if Osacr's name did get more pub, that doesn't mean Margo was a nobody, that just needs he wasn't known by the casuals. They only make up a not so large portion of the boxing community. Plus that interview was to hype the one of Floyd's fights right?Comment

Well spinks..mayo nd judah..and floyd were in all the action.......
Marg shouldve dropped that strap and got in line......Comment

Here's the thing with Carlos Baldomir...
Judah was the undisputed WW champion, and Baldomir beat him. People like to rag on Baldomir's losses, but earlier in his career he was a journeyman, and going into the Floyd fight he had not lost a fight in like somewhere around 10 years.
After gaining the lineal welterweight status, going into the Gatti fight he was not expected to just walk through him in his title defense fight. Turned out he beat Gatti in impressive fashion. He gained the right to fight Floyd; unlike Margarito who was in rebuild mode after losing to Santos.
The only thing wrong with Carlos Baldomir is that he fought Floyd. Had it been anyone else, it would have been a celebrated event.Comment
