Why i wont give Mayweather props if he does beat Manny. My pal Shadows just PM'd me asked me what i think about the fight so i thought id post the message i sent him. This is my own!! opinion and i dont expect anyone else to subscribe to it but these are my personal thoughts.


Pacquiao vs Mayweather

You'd have go with Mayweather 60/40. It might be more in Mayweather's favour but there is no telling how he will adapt to Pacquiao's style, although thats probably me being optimist more than realistic. I dont like Mayweather at all lol

Ive seen Mayweather knocked out of his comfort zone before but he eventually adapted and went on to win. I expect the same here.

Whitaker used to struggle to get to grips with these awkward fighters like Poli Diaz, Gary Jacobs but once he worked them out he picked them apart. I know these guys are not on Pacquaio's level though

Anyone has a chance early in a fight if they can keep closing the gap but its what happens when they tire and are not able to press that gap as much. When that happens technical superiority usually shines threw imo.

I dont think Manny will lose wide though, well he might lose clearly but it will definitely be competitive because even the fights Manny has lost, besides his KO losses, were competitive fights, plus Manny has terrific stamina and Mayweather is not a particularly big puncher in my estimation.

If Mayweather beats Pac i still wont rank him above Pac historically. There is a bad match out there for all fighters, so winning a one of fight against a guy who has been proving himself consistently does not cut it for me. If you have 5 fights against top caliber fighters you have a greater chance of coming across a style nightmare, if you fight a guy who established himself as the best and beat him in a one of fight that does not do a lot for me.

Just to add.............He will naturally get a degree of props but i wont go overboard like i know a lot of people on here will if he wins.

Its Mayweather himself who is strongly of the opinion that the bigger man should always be able to beat the smaller fighter, that is one of the reasons he is so critical of Leonard losing to Duran, and probably why he made sure JMM was considerably smaller than him, that fight was not long after he [B]cherry picked the smaller Hatton from 140.

You are right there. I reserve special praise for fighters who go up against the best available consistently!!! because that is how determine greatness, not cherry picking the fights that are more advantageous for you to win because of style and size.

Its like Mayweather has said himself. When he beats Pacman, it wont mean anything because he has already lost, been knocked out, and outboxed. People expect Floyd to win, no matter how he wins, he wont be given credit.

When it comes to Pacman, its the opposite...he is the little guy from 106lbs who is suppose to lose...etc etc etc..

You put Pacman on a pedestal and if a fighers beats him, it means nothing because Pacman is destined to lose in his advantageous bouts. Its a very lame argument and it no longer holds water. Pacman is now a true welterweight and if you follow the media craze, some regard him as one of the best of all time.

Manny is in his prime and at the peak of his game and when Mayweather beats him, he deserves all the credit in the world.
