Black Americans have developed their own slick style which can be very hard for straight forward robotic fighters to beat

My favourite fighters are Mayweather,Williams,Ward,Whitaker and Hearns
no one said you couldn't have a thread

      however

expect the same juvenile **** that goes on in those threads as well or are you blind to that?

and oh yeah guys like Lacy, Holyfield, Campbell and Mosley are all behind that slick Black American style

this thread is all kinds of comedy

and to TS ticket sales are not the fault of the boxing, it's the fault of the African American boxing fan because last time I checked

arenas are FILLED with Pinoy fans whenever Manny fights
arenas are STACKED with Puerto Rican fans whenever Cotto or JuanMa fights
arenas a swollen when Margarito fights Mosley, Vazquez fights Marquez etc etc

so while yes I go to all shows and love all fighters (as you can by my sig) African American fans have to look squarely in the mirror if they want their fighters to become more and more accept as TV and gate draws

My problem is because we've done so well in this sport our fighter are largely underrated and hated passionately by other countries and races of people. Most races had lost interest in boxing due to our dominance over the years and as soon as they get 1 good contender they act as if this contender is above all.

People fault black champions for being ****y or having ego's but rarely think about the dilemma a black champion faces when he can't do PPV #'s. When a black champion completely cleans out his division and moves up in weight where he continues to dominate nobody gives a **** but when a fighter of another race does the same they act like it's the reincarnation of Jesus.

Right now the boxing world has a lot of good fighters from all over the world stepping up to the world stage and they are doing great. I love the way Manny fights and while I enjoy Kessler's style more than Joe's nobody can deny what Joe has accomplished. Hatton was not a great boxer but he was a beast of a fighter, but it bothered me how nobody was in Vegas supporting Floyd when the Brits invaded.

Look at RJJ. As dominate as he was everytime his name was brought people would claim he was overratted...smh

Anyways enough talk what do you think ?

        Floyd

        Shane

        Bernard

        Roy

        Pernell

        Ray

        Mike

        Ronald

        Muhammed

I could go on but I'll leave some for you !!!

BTW Everybody is welcome to this thread , this isn't about being better or worse, I just think we deserve some props from everybody !!!
I agree with you man. But there are positive ways to look at it. I'm tired of defending my boy Floyd everyday and I don't really need to. What will count in the end is what was done in the ring, not how people think of it. Oscar was a great defining win for Floyd and so was Hatton. I remember when Ali was the **** he was hated to the point he was almost driven out of the country. Today people see what he accomplished in a new light. Joe Louis was actually driven out of the country but today he's arguably the GOAT with Ali, Robbinson and Floyd hehehe just kidding but who knows how people will view Floyd when it's all set and done. Think about Ali.

ppl lost interest in boxing because black ppl were dominating? are you sick? there are over 40 million black ppl in America, if only 10% of them supported their own brotherhood, boxing would be huge. Why aren't they supporting their "brothers"?

floyd doesn't have the same following as hatton because he is boring. not because he is black. Tyson was black, and just look at the all-time ppv numbers to see how ppl were driven away by his dominance, lol.

american football is dominated by blacks yet its the most popular sport in the states making billions of dollars every year. Tiger Woods is black and he is the first athlete to make 1 billion dollars because "white" ppl love to watch him.

As much as I believe that there is racism in this world, I think it tends to be over blown by some people like yourself.

The're a place for everyone in boxing and it's all fair game. When a fighter gets called out for being in a coward it has nothing to do with their skin color. It's because they are being a coward.

Pernell Whitaker stuck and moved with the best of them Noone on this or any other board would ever dare call sweeat pea a runner or a coward. Same with Winky or Hopkins. And they are all black american. So quit gettin your panties all in a bunch and playing the race card like it'll get you any sympathy from any other minority that have been just as if not more opressed/discrimated against as black americans.

Well I guess i'd fall into the classic old white non American that this is aimed out.
My non HW top 20 p4p has 11 black fighters dominating my list which also contains Latin fighters, ***ish fighters Italians so i'd think I do respect black fighters. If this is a pro PBF v Pac thread which I imagine it is then if Floyd uses his undoubted talent and beat Pac then he will get the respect that Pac currently gets. I don't like Floyd's trash talking but I put that down to age rather than an anti black thing. Ali used to do the same but generally with more wit.

Long time overdue. There are so few of them now and throughout history that sometimes we can forget how good some are from this minority group. WOW.

We need to make a "Black-American Basketball Player" appreciation thread as well....as well as a "Black-American Football" thread...as well as any other sport they have crowded the list of ATG status when the enter/allowed to participate.

Seriously, leave appreciation threads to people that need it or is this another attempt to dominate in something else?
Agreed! African Americans are definitely held at a higher standard than other ethnicities. Not out of hate though.

Pacq and pbf are master magicians in the sense that their careers are built on the illusions that they have fought the best but in actuality they have navigated thru the weights taking the path of least resistance.

while it is true that Ali was despised for a time during the 60's it was due to his refusal to fight in Vietnam. It was seen by many as unpatriotic, yet had nothing to do with how his skills were appreciated in the ring. Same holds true for Floyd today. I could care less for his act and personality, but his skills are undeniable. No reasonable person would even argue that.

Joe Louis was actually driven out of the country but today he's arguably the GOAT with Ali, Robbinson and Floyd hehehe just kidding but who knows how people will view Floyd when it's all set and done. Think about Ali.

Joe Louis was never even close to being driven out of the country and was loved and admired by blacks and whites alike.
