According to the guys at HBO, last Saturday's Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto pay-per-view generated 1.25 million buys; beating out the buyrate of September's Floyd Mayweather-Juan Manuel Marquez pay-per-view, which generated a million buys. Mayweather's team had anticipated that Pacquiao-Cotto would do a higher number. Mayweather stated on Monday that Pacquiao would like do a higher number because he had a "dance partner" in Cotto. 1.25m is roughly what i expected after seeing the numbers Floyd v JMM put up.

Impressive but not conclusive in the "bigger draw" argument - in fact if anything I'd say Mayweather's Numero Uno numbers are the more impressive.

People want to see boxers fight, not run around the ring and wait till the opponent wears out. Thats were the real numbers come into play. Look it up historically, people will want to watch 2 fighters fight. Not run around and play defense for 10-11 rounds and ONLY HAVE 1 round of action.

JMM's last PPV was in 2008 vs Pac and it barely did 400K...after that his 2 fights were on HBO.....yeah he is a PPV fighter on his own
