I don't think it's a coincidence that he announced his retirement after Janibek popped for PEDs. I think he was definitely targeting the winner of Janibek vs Lara but that fight has evaporated and now the middleweight title picture is a mess. The IBF and WBO will likely be vacated while Adames has two mandatory challengers stacked up. Maybe in a year or two a clear #1 will have emerged at middleweight and that will motivate Crawford into taking one more fight. You know deep down it bothers him to have won belts at 135, 140, 147, 154, and 168 but not 160.
