Lol where are you from, youre obviously pretty new to the sport of boxing. Why do you keep bringing up audience cheering, thats irrelavant. Im talking about boxing basics. No different than a great running football team who doesnt pass as well, they will stick to their strong suit, which is running the football. Sure fans would enjoy to watch a team air it out over smashmouth running but what do you think the coach is thinking about the ticketholder or guaranteeing a win?
Hopkins trainer said the same thing, which is common sense, he said anybody who thinks Dirrell should have ****** with Froch is dumb, boxing is stick and move, hit and not get hit. If Froch had the talent that Dirrell has then he wouldnt fight the way he does.
I brought the audience issue as evidenced of what style in boxing the boxing fans love and like to see.
Hit and not to get hit is by using your speed, body movement and footwork in order to avoid the punch, not to run to avoid of getting hit.
Hopkin trainer will diffinitely said that because hopkin has the same style.Last edited by arnold_jasper; 10-22-2009, 06:49 AM.

You can't compare football to boxing. Football design is to run, not in boxing. The basic of boxing is boxing not running as what dirrel did. You're dumb, you don't get it. I am not totally against running and holding because it is part of it but to much of it is not good as what dirrel did. In his performance in that fight, he don't deserve to win. That's what I want to emphasize.

I went, and I had Froch to win, but only courtesy of the deducted point. Otherwise, obviously it was a draw.
Dirrell showed some great skill, landed more and got the cleaner and probably stronger shots in, and he clearly hurt Froch in the last couple of rounds. But I gave Froch the vast majority of the middle rounds because Dirrell had no intentions of actually fighting in a lot of them. He ran, and when he got cornered, he clinched, and hung on.
Dirrell had a game plan to spoil, he stuck to it throughout until the balance swung in his favour and I massively respect him for that and for his skill and for going to Frochs hometown in front of a serious homer crowd, but Froch won by showing aggression throughout.
We all know judges dont score just on punches landed, theres so many intangibles, and showing aggression is a massive one.

Youve missed everybody's point their trying to make, my point was not the actual running in football but the fact that ANY team is going to stick to what they do best. Many didnt like the fact Dirrell didnt stand his ground as much as he probably should have, Im one of them, but that doesnt take away the fact that he should have gotten the decision.

The logic of hit and not to get hit is not to say run and run in order not to get hit. Use your skill of movement but not to run. How you can win in boxing when you are running. Wrong application man..
So is it your position that Dirrell did not fight at all in the Froch fight? He just ran the whole time? Didn't put any leather on Froch's face, or counter him in a pretty big way late in the fight?
I can see the viewpoint that Froch seemed to want the fight more. But, to say Dirrell didn't fight at all and didn't show some courage and heart in the final rounds is just..well, not smart.

if those believed that Froch win the fight why dont you watch it again and see who landed more punches, more jabs, more power punches? if a boxer landed more punches, more jabs, more power punches i think the boxer deserved to win. but a deserving boxer doesnt always win.
