The Ring Magazine Top 10 fighters of the 21st Century

So what, Cotto has a better record in lineal Middleweight title fights than Golovkin.
They’re empty statistics. Kenshiro is nowhere near top 10 of the past 25 years. He was barely top 10 of his own era during his prime.👍 2Comment

Baldomir > Golovkin, Kovalev, Froch etc.

Bless him, he's new to the sport and doesn't really get it, get's overly excited. I've explained this to him a few times but he doesn't drop it and then this moment here comes back around. I don't blame him that much, I remember I was the same when I had just discovered boxing. Plus he's gay so that feminine side comes out of him in these discussions.
To argue Carlos Baldomir has a better resume than Dillian Whyte is absurd. Anyone with one brain cell knows it if they aren't lying to themselves. Let alone the plethora of other fighters who never won a Lineal Title, or even won a world title at all. He knows that, that's why he's avoided answering it.
This is the same guy who considered Crawford's win over Ray Beltran as "elite" just for the simple fact it was for the Lineage even though anyone who has followed boxing for more than 5 minutes knows Ray Beltran is average at best and beating him is anything but elite.
He also deemed Danny Jacobs absolutely death defying murders run of Caleb Truax, Sergio Mora, Peter Quillen, Sergio Mora again as "special", I'm not joking, he really said that.👍 1Comment

Nobody said the list was objective, you stupid fuck.
It's a list that I'd assume a panel has come up with at The Ring as we're not a quarter of the way through the century.Comment

It's not really the Ring Magazine anymore though, is it? I mean, they have at least resumed the print edition but they've been a website owned by a promoter for quite some time now.
Kind of significant though, isn't it? The Ring Magazine.
You've heard of it, right? The Ring...Magazine?
It's only 100+ years old and the most known and historical magazine in Boxing and the same magazine that has provided the rankings for essentially the entirety of the time since professional boxing was birthed.
It is at best, news worthy. Not exactly Dave from Stokes list, is it?
Furthermore you could always just not post in the thread, that's an option, if you didn't know. Sometimes I'm not entirely sure if you know that's an option you have.
Similar to how Boxing News going monthly effectively means it's not the same to me anymore. They're just legacy brands and not run with their original intent.
But perhaps you're right, another top ten list with Mayweather and Pacquiao at the top (precipitating fierce debate about the order of those two individuals) is super important.Comment

Defending the credibilty of Ring Magazine without considering its representatives seems really smart.Comment

I don’t mind him tbf, there’s certainly worse posters on this board. He does make some good points from time to time.

He’s just so desperate to be contrasting and outlandish though. He loves inciting a debate or argument so he can post a guys resume and tell us they’re 5-0 in title fights- which is all readily available on boxrec I think.
He obviously gets some enjoyment out of it though. Good luck to him but there’s no way in hell Kenshiro is top 10 of the last 25 years.Comment

Again, you do know that you have the option to not post in the thread? You're not obligated to.

I saw a Ring Magazine quarter of the century list, seemed somewhat significant and interesting, thought I'd post it, and it's actually had some good discussion for the most part.
Why are you upset about that? What exactly is your problem? Let's identify it so we can try and help.Comment
