Comments Thread For: Hall of Fame announcement: The surprises; the snubs; the sentimentality

Gennaadiy Golovkin going into the International Boxing Hall of Fame was a formality. The rest of the names in the press release? That?s where the real analysis lies.

Man. I haven't heard Pongsaklek Wonjongkam name in a while. I swear alot of people forget about those smaller weights with great Asian fighters.Does anyone think Chris John should get in ?

Vic Darchinyan also was a great fighter definitely better then Benn, Gatti or Tarver he should also get in.

I am happy for Tarver. He over came alot however he lost most of the time at the elite level, he was lucky he had Roy's number. Regardless of Roy's weight Drop. Tarver always had Roy's number.

I so agree, and it kills me. Seems like if you fight under 130, your career already is subservient to those who fight at 130 and above. Throw in most of those names are not from Europe or North America, they are on strike "2" before even coming up to plate to mix my sports metaphors. It is sad.

john was laughable. he beat 3 top 10 ranked(ring) opponents his entire career and the only top one was marquez which was a complete robbery imo

Vinny Pazienza's induction into the IBHOF Hall of Fame is a disaster. I guess if Vinny's in, anyone can be.

It is important to remember that it is a Hall of FAME, not a Hall of Talent. I think Butterbean, Logan Paul, and Charlie Z are easily famous enough to make the cut. Put them in so the real boxing fans can completely stop caring.

That seems to be more of what others have argued for various sports, is a "Hall of Famous". I'd hope that those who select still do so by perceived ability or accomplishment, even if it means that in some cases those who they select or decline to select don't align with our views.

So what you are saying he had a better career then Gatti who's in the hall of fame correct?

Chris John probably is one of the longest reigning title holders ever. That still is an achievement.
