I hate to tell everyone that as much as I want to see Boots vs Virgil next it's not going to happen. This sport is called PRIZEfighting not fighting. Oscar will not let this happen next and he is right. Virgil is the WBC interim and he will be fighting the winner of Fundora / KEEF next. Oscar wants to get him the belt so if they do fight in 2026 Virgil will be the A side and it will be a huge PPV that Oscar will demand 70%. Plus Oscar will have all the leverage in negotiations because he knows Hearn cannot afford to keep losing money on Boots by fighting bums. Advantage = Oscar! He also cant be named A-side in any negotiations which is a second out. For Ortiz to now fight Fundora he has to take the low money in order to jump over the mandatories that come along. He also cant drop the interim belt without looking like a duck so hes put himself in a no win situation with the WBC.

Just judging by Oscar’s own words. It does appear to me at least that he doesn’t feel that Ortiz is ready for the fight. He is already making excuses to not to make the fight. They are preparing to move on without Ennis.
