Wins vs Lacy, Kessler, Jones, Hopkins, Eubank and other top 10 level contenders ranks him high and I am sure the undefeated record with 10 years of Super Middleweight "dominance" helped.

Argument against him is that his biggest wins came in the final two years of his career. Lacy, Kessler were great wins. Jones was past it. The Hopkins win was a good win, I'd honestly just say bad stylistically for Hopkins. It was actually a great win as Hopkins had recently beaten Tarver and went on to own Pavlik and Pascal.

While he may not be the first one that comes to mind for that distinction, it's not easy arguing against him. This coming from someone who wasnt't a fan of Calzaghe.

      Biased crap.

Prime Hopkins got schooled by a welsh slapper and even his personal referee Joe Cortez couldn't save him.

The result v BHop was excellent and BHop was one of those guys like Archie Moore, Joe Walcott or George Foreman who can be competitive at top level almost forever. I gotta say I scored it a draw. A lot of Calzaghe’s punches were hitting arms and the top of the head. BHop threw far fewer punches but they were accurate.

Don't worry calzaghe has a win on paper over hopkins and is unbeaten. America rank hopkins above calzaghe......America will tell you hopkins has accomplished more, so what does h2h mean?

By your logic we’re going to rate Larry Holmes over Ali because of what happened head to head with an old Ali. We’re also going to rate Camacho over Sugar Ray Leonard because of what happened in a head to head match up with an old sugar Ray. Just to put it on a British level, we will also rank senchenko over Ricky Hatton.

Yeah 43 year old is "prime" lol. Calzage only legitimate win was against a prime undefeated champion in mikkel kessler. Very good win. He was offered a fight with roy jones many a times but refused to travel due to his "fear of flying" but that fear magically vanished once jones had been knocked out a few times.

The guy held the lightly regarded WBO belt before it was even recognized as a world title. Fighters used to VACATE the WBO belt to get a shot at a World title. Even after it started getting more recognition it was still the weakest of the 4. Lennox Lewis is the best…

Of course, Roy was way past his prime then, and still knocked him down. I think Lennox Lewis is Great Britain's best ever boxer. That is, putting aside that Lennox spent some years in Canada and won a gold medal with that country.
Near expiring versions of Roy Jones & Hopkins. Kessler was his best win. I’d take Lennox Lewis & Froch over JC off the top of my head.

On achievement I think Britain’s best ever boxer was Lennox followed by Randolph Turpin, Lloyd Honeyghan, Froch and then Calzaghe. On ability, I think Naseem by a mile, followed by Buchanan, Honeyghan and then Calzaghe. If you mash the lists together Calzaghe might justifiably come out top because he is on both lists
