Joe Calzaghe's wins over Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Junior 'are also solid wins

I think Bernard Hopkins was the better fighter 'and he did land the more damaging and powerful punches throughout the entire fight'.

But in a Championship fight, you have to sometimes give the win to the fighter 'who is applying more pressure, and forcing the opponent to look for ways to rest and fiddle his way through the fight at times. That is what Joe Calzaghe did to Bernard Hopkins'.

Eubank wasn't good when calzaghe fought him. I see a lot of people mentioning this as a top level win...Why? Its like saying crawford beating brook is a good win or something. Eubank didnt have a notable win for years and years when he fought calzaghe, was coming off 2 losses to Collins, a recent robbery over dan schommer, was unranked, and never won another fight in his career. It was the definition of "just a name" win

Roy Jones was not a solid win. Same basic reason as above.

Sometimes you have to throw the rules out the window and give the fight to the guy not landing the better punches lol.

It's obviously Lennox or Jimmy Wilde.

I knew you would and am delighted you chimed in on this thread, I saw a compilation of his stoppages and the vast majority of them were early typical UK ref stoppages where his opponent wasn't even hurt. I mean he peppered Manfredo with a couple ineffective slaps that did no damage and boom the ref waves it off.

I bet Americans won't place joe above hopkins or rjj though. Even with Joe's unbeaten record, and wins on paper over them. If rjj comes out of retirement and gets koed another 5 times, America would still have rjj above joe.
Same as pac is above floyd, it don't matter floyd has a win over pac and is unbeaten

Insane that he was voted greatest British fighter, Froch while not having an unbeaten record won most of his fights has only 1 unavenged loss and fought the best of the best in his era at 168. Jermain Taylor if he was on Calzaghe's record as a stoppage win would be one of the best wins he had.
