The whole "who ducked who" schtick can go on forever without anyone really knowing for sure.

What we DO know is AJ stepped up much quicker in his career and consistently fought top 10 level guys while Wilder spent a decade beating up cans in obscurity in Alabama before finally stepping up in his 40th pro fight.

Anyway it just seems like you're bitter that the UK shows up for boxing and America on the whole doesnt. You'd think a boxing fan would be happy that there are boxing matches out there drawing huge crowds instead of disparaging it.

I agree with TM T87 about the "whole who ducked who schtick." Nobody really knows what happened, yet so many people talk like they know what happened. I think us Muricans know we can get a rise out of the British crowd by joshing Joshua. It is kind of like knowing if the Queens guard is approaching to clear the way one can get a rise by saying something nasty about the King (like his chimp ears, how he looks like Alfred E neuman... something like that).

Wilder and Joshua were both IMO tragickly flawed, but in different ways. Joshua had the curse of the horizontal heavy weight. Like Bruno, there was a place that was too far for Joshua to reach when it came to winning in the ring. It was never his chin, anymore than Bruno, yet if one looks at Bruno after the flooring by Tim Witherspoon there is a very distinct look... Flabbergast, shock, Help!, whatever one wants to call it and Joshua was cut from the same cloth.

Wilder's problems were not his will so much as his hamarte his arrogance, the belief that he could do it his way with just his right hand. Both men had great careers, but the truth machine we call the boxing ring managed to pass judgement on them. AJ is probably no more ready than Wilder to reenter the fray... well ok, maybe a little more ready given Wilder's fight against Zhang.

I cant remember the exact situation but wasnt there some kind of weird stipulations like he had to sign the contract within 24 hours or some **** like that? around 2018ish? from what I remember there was a contract offer from Wilders side where it just seemed like games were being played and it was a publicity stunt. The way Wilder/Fury signed to a multi fight deal seemingly out of nowhere when Fury was still visibly out of shape a few months into his comeback looking like **** was weird too.

Again, nobody knows who ducked who, or if they both ducked each other to some degree, or if it was more the people around them causing issues. To this day you get plenty of people accusing Wilder of being the one ducking, we've seen it in this very thread. The situation was and probably always will be inconclusive.

Its besides the point anyway, AJ was the bigger star. A lot of it was because of the UK audience but part of it was also because he stepped up more quickly and consistently. Wilder didnt have a genuinely big fight until Ortiz almost TEN ****ING YEARS into his career. He was probably never going to be a huge star either way because Americans just dont care about boxing like that now, but if it had been him fighting and beating Wlad etc instead of treading water for years he at least would have been bigger than he was.
