Man, if you rewatch Wilder and fury 1, Wilder looked so good. But man, I think that trilogy took everything out of him. He looked like a completely different fighter Zhang & Parker. He stopped throwing his big punches and started trying to box but never let his hands go again. Sadly, I think he’s done.

Tyson Fury ruined Wilder.

Even if Deontay apologizes to Mark Breland and brings him back on the team there is no returning to what he once was.

The only thing that ruined Wilder was not knowing how to box and beating hapless tomato cans for 40 fights.

He never once fought opponents like Parker and Zhang. If he did in 2015 or 2018 the result would have been precisely the same: L and L. The same would go for other top names if Wilder ever faced them. The clips from him sparring Haye and Hrgovic were out there even when Bumsquad cheerleaders were pretending 10 title defences against bums was an achievement. Just compare the Wilder that fought Washington and the Wilder that fought Parker. It's the same guy, same style, same flaws, same level. That's his level, always was.

Let's face it: he was overprotected and got outboxed by guys like Szpilka and Washington until landing a hail mary. His big right hand saved him many a times. His best wins are Luis Oldtiz, Robert Hilarious and Chris Arreola. This is not a resume to remember by next Christmas. His only claim to fame is flooring The Tipsy King. It's important, however, to keep in mind that Francis Ngannou (0-0, 0 KO's) also floored The Tipsy King.

Will be fun to see how many losses his delusion will produce for him before he realises he sucks as a boxer.

Helenius is Wilder's former sparring partner who has done NOTHING in the division. He basically stuck his chin out so that Deontay could clip him. Robert was an intentional soft- touch comeback opponent after Wilder's two consecutive KO losses to Fury. Judging Wilder against former champions and a then forty-one-year-old contender who KOd him just last year, is absolutely a reasonable measuring stick.

Honestly it doesnt even matter at this point anyway. Hes 39 years old and has lost 4 of his last 5 stretching back 5 years. Cant really expect much of him at this stage.

My disagreement with your post is the part which suggests Wilder is the same one-punch wonder that he always was. I believe that he's lost a step, or maybe two, as evidenced by his recent fights after Fury. When he fought Fury, he was the same one-punch wonder that he was known to be as evidenced by him dropping Tyson even in defeat. In his fights vs Parker and Zhang, he looked nowhere near able to even properly throw, let alone land his signature right hand bomb. Helenius is less than the standard fighter that Deontay faced in his prime. Some of those guys actually outboxed him until he caught them. Robert came to lay down in the first round.

I hope that he is not broke and needs the money because his skills have clearly diminished and he is on a physical decline.

However. If he is serious about winning again; Them he would need to rehire his former boxing coach Mark Breland. In order to teach him how to throw that right hand of his.
