Unless you can say that, it makes no sense that he'd struggle with competition at that level, two divisions down, but still have a chance with Canelo. If he can beat Canelo, those should be doable fights, and he had time to beat at least one of them prior to Canelo.
It should have been him in there instead of Booker. He literally asked for that fight and then ducked it. He'd have been more prepared for Canelo without as much ring rust, he'd have a better argument for winning as a 3 belt unified champ at 154, instead of barely squeaking by one guy and having that be the only belt at 154. He's effectively jumping up 3 weight divisions, taking more power while carrying more weight on those 37 year old legs. I'm older than him and still putting in the time in the gym, and I know full well what it feels like to fight younger, bigger guys on progressively older legs while carrying more weight.
I think not taking those fights and sitting inactive waiting for the money fight shows he's cashing out. And he'll be getting a fraction of the money for the fight that he would have if he'd followed the path I said, which is only possible if he's actually got the skills to beat Canelo. Only if he doesn't have the beating of Canelo does it make sense to avoid any other fights. And what's he going to do if Scull somehow pulls off the upset and Canelo gets tied up rematching him, or even if the fight gets delayed due to injury. Just sit out longer and longer?
