He's 27 years old and he's only faced one good opponent in his entire career. He should've fought several good opponents before he ever got the Canelo fight.
I'm not fan of Hearn but Berlanga doesn't come off as a particularly likeable guy either. He thinks he's a "superstar"? This is the same guy that struggled with Coceres and Rolls?
Back to big fights? Other than vs Ginger, when was he in a big fight?
I can't believe you forgot his Legendary Nights tier fight against THE Padraig McCrory who was the #1 SMW in Ireland (out of 5). Even Canelo allegedly said "I will fight Edgar but Padraig is too much for me". Padraig even won the WBC intl silver Belt and defended it twice so he was the perfect opponent for Edgar. When you say Padraig's name put some respect on it!
Except Eddie says he asked for a soft touch and refused to fight a marquee star after getting clobbered by Ginger. Haven't seen him even attempt to deny it. Hearn is naming specific names he asked for, and the likes of Pacheco, Plant, Charlo, Mbilli, Munguía, etc aren't on that list. He can't even claim he asked for those guys, just says he wants to fight them in the future when he's a free agent. Uh huh. Pull the other one, Edgar. I don't usually trust Eddie, but when he's this specific, it sure isn't a good look for hype job Berlanga.
