But that didn’t happen here. The ref initially started the count when he took the knee for a reason. Should have been ruled a knockdown.

It should have been ruled a knockdown by the rules, but like I stated earlier, the ref recognized it was a situation comparable to missing a mouthpiece.

That’s not the refs call to make though. When Tank took the knee on his own it’s a 10 count and a knockdown.

What happened was the ref realized he was about to cost the money fighter his title.

My apologies! You are right and I was mistaken. Had that round would have been scored even. For instance, if that round had been scored 9-9; Then Lamont Roach would have won on all three judges scorecards by margins of 115-112, 114-113 and 114-113.

Had it been scored 10-9 for Roach; Then the final tally would have been 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113. Had it been a 10-8 round for Lamont; Then the judges final scorecards would have read something like 116-111, 115-112 and 115-112 all in favor for the winner Lamont Roach.

So round 9 was the pivotal round. Therefore, I stand corrected.

It's a shame the terrible refereeing and not given knockdown has overshadowed that Roach didn't even need that to win. Tank won no more than 3-4 rounds anyway. The cards were a straight up robbery so if the ref had given the knockdown they'd have just given Tank another couple of rounds anyway. These gift decisions do nothing for a boxer's career imo. It makes them look like a fraud. Better to take the L and come back stronger another day. I know it wasn't Tank's call, but he was acting like a punk all fight anyway, low blows, shoulders, constantly complaining the ref like a *****. Clearly his head wasn't in the game. He's gone down in my estimation big time after this. He had no plan B, he didn't look like an elite boxer in there at all. Hopefully he was having an off day, but that was one hell of an off day.

Actually, it is precisely the refs' call to make. It's laughable how incorrect your statement is. It was the wrong call by the book, but that's not what I'm arguing. If you read and comprehend what I initially wrote, I am fine with it not being called a knockdown simply because a punch didn't cause it.

You don’t get timeouts in boxing that’s not how it works
