  • Is Luis Ortiz the greatest heavyweight to never win a title

He has the combination of elite level boxing skills, brutal ko power and a granite chin.

He was just unfortunate to be in an era with a 6'7" monster puncher who only needs to be perfect for one second.

Ike Ibeabuchi. That Byrd KO was fun to watch. Sucks he turned out to be a headcase.

You kids have no idea about Earnie Shavers or Ron Lyle? Quarry? Wills?

Shavers was Mike Tyson before Mike Tyson.

Absolutely not. His best wins are Bryant Jennings, Malik Scott, and Dave Allen. I'd put Dillian Whyte above him.

If you feel the need to ask this question, you’re very new to the sport and haven’t researched the history of boxing.

Never having won a world title belt, which many contenders for the real (linial) title do; Ortiz definitely makes the short list within the "4 belt era" (c. 2007). No question about it. Had he been in the opposite corner against Anthony Joshua in June 2019 instead of Andy Ruiz Jr., he very likely would have snagged himself a few belts, given his skill and power during that time.

2x WBA Interim Champion of the World. Winning interim 2x qualifies him by Nash Law to be recognised as a World Championship. He may not have won the main belt, the Snickers World Championship like Andy Ruiz, and may never have been the Face of Boxing like current FOB Jake Paul, but let's put some respect on the Great Cuban's name. David Tua knocked out Michael Moorer, John Ruiz, Hasim Rahman, and Oleg Maskaev. He also got a draw with Rahman and took Lennox Lewis and Chris Byrd the 12 round distance.
