The year 2024 was highly eventful for the boxing world with plenty of quality fights and talking points. The BoxingScene team wonder how it will ultimately be remembered

There were a few good fights. However, I'm watching boxing less. I'm not watching fights I consider to be one sided. There are plenty of times where I look at the schedule for the week and decide against boxing. Yeah, I missed Munguia getting starched, but I watched the replay. Maybe boxing should consider moving off of Saturday nights. Their product isn't good enough, except in a very few cases.

Not a good year. Especially poor year for British boxing as it currently stands

This is a tough one. While I think the fights that were made were good, it seems like only Saudi Arabia is making them. The question to ask yourself is: Are you happy with SA being the pinnacle of boxing where is used to be the US and Europe? While you do manage to get very good fights, you will now have fighters waiting for that call because they know this is where the money is. So my answer is Yes, but with some caveats.

I beleive that it was a good year for boxing. As the Heavyweight division goes, so goes boxing; and the influence of Turki Alalshikh has put the wind in the sails of the big men.

Good or bad I have enjoyed watching boxing in 2024 more than I can remember in the last five years. There have been many more competitive fights where I was genuinely excited before the fight and did not know which way it was going to go before the bell rang. I live in Australia, so I don't care where the fights are happening. I just enjoy watching good fights between top fighters where the outcome is not largely predetermined.

2024 was the year I completely lost interest in watching prospects, or even world champions with whom I'm not familiar (mainly the lower weights). However, the 3 massive fights at HW and LHW were enough to keep me interested at least this time. The lack of big fights for "money fighters" like Alvarez and Davis will only continue to me put me off.

The amount of collective butthurt about Saudi is off-putting, just when I thought BScene had turned a corner with regards to the content of its articles. It's great reading pieces like the one about McClellan and Reiss, but the endless whining about Saudi – who've ultimately given us the fights we want – undoes all that.

I believe there was good movement to a better place for boxing (we had some hellacious fights and the usual 90/10 bad/good politics), but overall I would call it neither good nor bad.
