Moreover, the "disrespect" shown by Benavidez's father, particularly in Spanish-speaking sites reached ugly levels -- way beyond anything anyone else said. But I think Benavidez not getting the fight has little to do with a lack of respect though that might play a part. I just find it interesting that Canelo triggers people so much.
as far as Canelo being triggering , probably because real boxing fans who want to see real fights are watching spit in the face of the sport with his ducking.

He’s literally is being asked the question because it’s a fight that real fans wanted to see, so he answers. Just because Canelo fans hate to be reminded about his cowardly ways doesn’t mean he shouldn’t answer questions when asked and doesn’t mean he isn’t focused on his opponent.
As far as losing the belt for missing weight, Canelo has missed weight twice so it’s nothing to sit high and mighty about. The truth is, belt or not, Canelo would’ve avoided him. He only wanted to be undisputed after Benavidez got stripped and actually lobbied the wbc for the title just 2 days after he got stripped. Never before.
The truth is Benavidez was in a great position as the WBC SMW champion, but he just blew it 2x, not to mention David never even talked about unifications or undisputed runs, something that Canelo did accomplished, thats the whole root of the problem if we zoom out this whole situation , maybe you're entitled to disagree thats cool everybody has an opinion or take about it but I do believe they would've fought simply cause Canelo wasn't going to stay at 160 forever, his body just couldn't do that weight anymore, that fight would've been imminent just as Plant, BJS and Callum got their shot. Benavidez aint that special man.Verus likes this.

As he said Benavidez brings nothing to the table except extra weight. If Canelo can get around 40 million for fighting other guys closer to his size, why would he fight a natural cruiserweight for 45 million? ls the extra 5 million worth the extra risk? It appears that Canelo doesn't think so. I am not saying I condone it, but I do get it, it makes sense to me.Oracle01 likes this.

Benavidez did try to unify and wanted to face plant and smith but he was avoided. Canelo was able to do it because nobody avoids him. He does the avoiding. Canelo never had any intent to fight Benavidez. Benavidez for the last couple of years has put himself to be the most credible opponent Canelo has faced since a 36 yr old ggg 7 years ago and opportunity to finally sell 1 mil ppvs for the first time since then and he’s still ducking him. Canelo’s aspirations to become undisputed happened because Benavidez got stripped. If he hadn’t , he would’ve avoided becoming undisputed just like he did at 160 when he was interested in facing Andrade or Charlo.

When he arrived at the division, he said, and I quote, "I won't fight any more Mexicans" referring of course to benavidez, he only went ahead for the unification after the american (let's not forget that the guy is not even Mexican) lost his belt. So what, he lost the belt? He was mandatory for two years and Morrell jr for three, and he never looked their way and fought a real Mexican after all, of course, another blown-up media star. He is a fraud.Verus likes this.
