boxing wise, he's never been at A level.

First off, this "DuBois is the champion" stuff about the rematch is irritating me. No, he is not. He is a title holder. Championships are won in the ring, and while DuBois deserves his flowers for that dominating performance last night, he is certainly not a champion.
As far as the rematch goes, had this been a non-title fight the rematch would still be there. AJ had the stroke and the rep, his name brought a large gate, it would have been there. I do not like it. I think it is lame. But this is part of the new age of boxing. I would have been knock me over with a feather pillow shocked had Joshua agreed to this fight with a dangerous opponent without one. Do I think Joshua has a chance in a rematch? I have freaking learned my lesson. I won't pick him. I remember in the heyday of HBO Boxing, the late great Emanuel Steward was discussing a fighter (I do not remember who) after being KO'd if he should seek a rematch. Steward was adamant to NEVER seek a rematch after a KO loss. He swore it never worked. Fight some other opponents first and get your "mojo" back, otherwise you lose worse the second time. I think the Hall of Fame trainer knew what he was talking about. Joshua did beat Ruiz in his rematch, but I think we can chalk that up to Ruiz losing, not Joshua winning. DuBois will beat him in the rematch IF it happens.

Money f**king talks, right?
Forget boxing, it's business. Hearn has plenty of money to have rematch clauses in his fighter's contracts whether they are holding a title or not. Besides, AJ is still a bigger name than Dubois regarding marketing, sales, social media presence, and being around the globe.

He will just get knocked out again. Just retire dude , you have made several fortunes , you're still young and healthy. Why risk brain damage or worse ? Go enjoy that money and fame. Sleep with a different beautiful woman or two every night , eat great food, meet the smartest people in the world and have interesting conversations, hang out with comedians and laugh your head off , see the most beautiful places on the planet , get a garage full of motorcycles , get a yacht and explore the oceans , go have FUN. You've earned it in the hardest sport there is. The hard part is over. Enjoy the spoils.

There's no need for a rematch, DDD just proved that he own's AJ.
Dropping him 5-6 times two of which weren't counted by the biased referee.
DDD can seriously hurt AJ the next time out, if he hasn't hurt him already (those were some Jarring knockdowns).

It's not as if Dubois took a title from a champ who - as is the custom - gets a second chance as a nod to the (supposed) significance of a title.
And Joshua had no title yesterday to defend.
Joshua should have to earn his way back by beating at least one of the other top guys.
I'd much prefer to see Joshua vs Zhang over a Fury, Parker, or Usyk matchup.
EDIT: Actually, Joshua should have to go through Bakole if it's not Zhang to be in the conversation.
Possibly a fight with his fellow washed up duck Wilder. Never have 2 heavyweight belt holder's reigned for so long without fighting, quack! We know for sure why now.Last edited by Bob; 09-22-2024, 09:37 AM.Left Hook Louie likes this.

Regardless of the clause or not hopefully the IBF steps in and tells Joshua to get fcuked with his rematch clause. It would be ludicrous to give Joshua a second voluntary shot in a row after suffering such a one sided beating. This wasn’t a competitive fight. The bully had his bluff called and got battered from pillar to post. It was a barbaric massacre.
