From what I understand, his eyelid was damaged in the amateurs by Daniel Santos and lost all elasticity. He had multiple surgeries in a vain effort to repair it but doctors told him it would eventually fail and he had a limited time in the sport before he'd be unable to continue.

That eyelid was why he was fastracked and faced Trinidad so early in his career.

Thats assuming that Ennis doesnt vacate and go to 154 and fight Madrimov, which I think is a good possibility. Hearn only bidding $1.5 million at the purse bid tells you that he wasnt seriously trying to win it, and just bid in case there were no other bids........

Eddie isn't interested in a fluke loss right after he signed Boots. Norman may lose, but Norman beat a far bigger challenge in Santillan than Boots has ever fought. And Norman beat Santillan up while showing he isn't scared to take a shot.....and Santillan can punch.

Boots Norman is a good fight. And dangerous for Boots. Hearn did not want it. Obviously. As others have said, look at how he handles all of his fighters.

Brian Norman was banking on the idea that Boots needed him, so therefore keep raising the offer to see how high you can go. That greed bit him in his ass. When you never made more than 100k and you never fought anyone of note, and you get an offer for at least 1.5M and you wanna keep raising the bar, yes you overpriced yourself

In contrast, when he was loitering around the PBC compound, nobody have any clue what goes on inside the PBC mystery island. Why he was so inactive, can't get fights when there's Barrios, Stanionis, Kavaliauskas, Crowley, Butaev, Josesito in the stable. There's also Avanesyan and Cobbs who can fight anywhere for stay-busy fights.
Because he wasn't truly a PBC fighter; he was under Cameron Dunkin. If anything, Ennis not being PBC was hurting him because PBC was SHO's top priority. Bozy's twisted sense of loyalty to Showtime/Espinosa was also problematic.

He signed him to prevent him going to have success at PBC or TR. Hearn has been in the business to long to think that he could pry Norman's title from TR after Brian only had it for a fee months now. His plan for Boots is the same plan he had for Andrade and TEevin Farmer which is to keep them occupied with Eurobums while preventing unified title fights from happening on PBC and TR. And Boots fell for the BS!. Had he stuck with Espinoza and signed with PBC he would be fighting for 3 belts this year. Now this guy is chasing inferior Euro guys ro Germany. Haha can't make dis shytr up mane!
Try to tell that to Bread Man Edwards. He swears signing with Eddie was a "BOSS" move.

That may be true but Hearn’s offer needed to be 10 times PLUS $500,000 to get the Boots-Norman fight over the line and Mr. “You Still Owe Me 700 Pounds From 2014” didn’t want to pay the extra $500,000 after going that far down the negotiation path. Just like he couldn’t get a stadium fight for Katie Taylor (because he wanted the Irish government to help finance) or one for Leigh Wood (because he wanted Forest to let him use the stadium at a discount). When he’s not jet-setting on DAZN’s or Turki’s money, Hearn is no better than an East London butcher shop owner who sweats over every nickel coming in and out. When it’s his money on the line, Hearn is more a shopper than a buyer.

It's always been that way since time immemorial with the very secretive PBC in a sport that requires lots of publicity, good or bad. Fans have no idea when Spence is returning back, the Charlo brothers, Adames, the fat-shiny-necklace lover, etc. No clue on who Tank Davis is fighting or when he's scheduled to fight, etc. etc.
