I don’t believe I did. My point is He was much more popular than he was hated. He did get criticized for sure. But don’t act like he was Anywhere near Tank or Shakur in terms of poster hate.

Not the point. He was anointed as the next great thing because he had a high KO % and wasn’t American.

His losses to Zab and Devin were SD so he got even more slurpage because he was “robbed”.

He kod Mike Dallas jr and fools acted like he kod Ali.

Except guys have just been defending him for ducking Shakur and Tank. A lot of the same people defended Manny for not taking the $40 mil, no ppv and instead taking $28 mil for JMM. You’ve been here and seen this.

Your 2nd paragraph is something posters have discussed in this thread. You call it whining. You call him boring. Yet when non Americans display same it isn’t labeled as harshly.

I believe in my initial post in the thread I discussed his style and the situation very fairly.

The hatred on GGG was extremely toxic. It's nowhere near what Stevenson is talking about. And GGG never complained about it's because of his being half-Asian. That's the bottom line. It's not always about race, for most boxers, at least.

Win or lose, when was Lucas Matthysse ever in a bad fight?

He's clutching for straws as usual. Matthysse was a slightly more skilled version of Gatti. He was an exciting fighter who gave it his all in the ring. I think some of these posters forget that boxing is a spectator sport first and foremost, it's meant to entertain fans, not put them to sleep with clinching, running, and winning on jabs and the occasional right hand pot shot. If a fighter is content to do just enough to win a decision he deserves all of the criticism he gets, especially if it's a PPV fight.

How many boring non-black fighters are there in the sport today? Even going back 25 years, how many were there? Wladmir Klitschko was often accused of being boring with his jab and grab upright style. I don't recall very many white, Hispanic or Asian fighters who were in fact boring. The truth is, Ward and Hopkins were dirty fighters who clinched and wrestled through their fights. Lara, Rigo, Winky, Floyd, Shakur, are all content to glide their way to a decision win.

Now look at great black fighters like Hagler, Hearns, Jones, Terry Norris, Mosley, GRJ, Crawford, who put on boxing clinics and give the fans what they came to see. Fans appreciate bravery, skill, and fighters who challenge themselves against the very best while trying for a knockout.

u see america is a bit of a big dog on the block type of thing, massive country, home of boxing, lots of stars history etc, that can put a target on the back at times, there is a lot to live up and a lot to attack for smaller rivals, its the same thing that happens in all areas, the big dog has that target at times especially if its brash and boasting, that creates a bigger target, the higher u go the bigger the fall, its just the way of things, also at times americans can be scathing or dismissive of other countries, what goes around comes around, u dish it out u can expect it back etc, there is a lot going on with this type of stuff

You are arguing non related issues. Shakur is not a fan favorite because he is boring as hell these days. No one is arguing his skills or not liking him because he is black. He is simply not entertaining to watch.

GGG was ducked by alot of guys and didn't fight a who's who of the sport, but that said, he stopped everyone and made for great fights. He has been derided by many here for his resume. But do you really think Shakur is being called boring if he had KO'd his last two opponents? No, no way.

Loma knocked damn good fighters out and made others quit. He just beat Kambosis to a pulp and stopped him. Shakur pointed out one fight for Loma if I remember right. This has become a career thing with Shakur....he has the skills and has the pop. He isn't a killer and thus he isn't big fan favorite.

The argument is just ridiculous on it's face when you look at Crawford, or Mbilli, or look at black fighters from the past. Black dudes rule the sport as far as P4P. No one cares that they are black....they are men who fought valiantly and they are universally loved.

Shakur goes in and ko's a few fighters, or at least doesn't coast to a UD with little effort to hurt the guy, and he is loved.

No one liked Malignaggi, or Billy Joe Saunders, or any other white fighter who never stopped anyone either. The fact that Shakur even brought this up is honestly embarrassing for him.

The bottom line is....a boxer can be talented enough not to ever get hit and win UD's, but he knows that is never going to make him a fan favorite. To fight that way, then ask...."well, what do people want, they want me to go out there and get hurt? I hit and don't get hit....."

No one is ever going to enjoy Olympic boxing. Very few can pull off hit and never get hit and still hurt guys, RJJ was the master of it and most ain't him. Floyd created a whole new villian personality to get people to buy his fights, he was brilliant in that move.

So either go hurt people and gain acclaim, or try to win on points and never get hit, and don't. No argument to even be had.
