Got to give Derek respect here. He did everything he had to do to win against Joyce. Joyce didn't look shot though - he absorbed so many huge shots, But his poor defense was just there to see.

Also worth remembering that Uysk said Chisora punched the hardest out of everyone he faced

THIS should be Del-boys retirement fight (this was a 10 round fight) but we know it won't be....

Also AJ stopped Joyce in 1 round in the amateurs

Both of these guys are doing themselves no favors by fighting on. Chisora has the PERFECT fight to end his career. An upset victory over a fighter whose style is the only one he could have won over at his age. Joyce gave him wide open looks, long periods of near inactivity, and was in front of him for the entire fight. There are zero other HW fighters out there which will be as accommodating. Chisora still looked like he lost at the end, having absorbed all kinds of punishment. He really, really will not be able to find a better place to retire. He has fought nearly everyone of the two eras his career has straddled. He will never have to pay for a round at a bar and will forever be asked to come speak on his wars with the greats he has done battle with. I hope his inner circle is saying these things to him. If he does anything else, find a local favorite who is a scrub as a farewell fight. He needs to end it and keep on top of his health. Please.

As for Joyce, it has gotten ugly fast. I still picked him to bounce back against Zhang in the rematch, so I was a believer way past most of you. He needs to stop. He offers a name and an easy game plan for anyone of value if he continues. Watch for that slow right hand, and you are nearly promised a win. He has shown no signs of development, and his corner obviously either cannot reach him on basics on how to protect himself or worse just does not care. He is a gatekeeper that is easy to hit in a division everyone hits like a Mack semi-truck. Get him out of there.

That is good. Yeah, Chisora is B league cash cow. Sure all under top level guys want him, but maybe they should fight each other.

Again you must define what "giving a ****" means under these circumstances. No one is forcing Chisora to continue to get in the ring. And if he still wants to fight, which he obviously does, he's just going to tell anyone who tries to tell him different to piss off. I'm assuming there are doctors who evaluate him and clear him to fight. Should we protest him "for his own good?" I'm just going to wish the man well and hope he does what makes him happy and lives a long, healthy life. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Not much else I can do regardless of whether or not I "give a ****" about him. Teddy Atlas honestly is the only one I've ever heard who seems to "give a ****" when I heard him talking about the sanctioning bodies putting fee money aside for some sort of pension/retirement plan for these guys, and I'm all for it.
            True to all that.

On the other hand, it's tough to say no if everybody around you is trying to sign you up for the next fight (I have idea what people around him are saying).

Then again, that's why each man ought to think for himself and assess all of his own factors. Money brings a lot of people who want to ride the train and be affiliated, and maybe even help you succeed, but those people generally don't want to turn off the money as long as it's flowing, because that's how they eat.

The Joyce v Takam fight was the one where you could see the punches would stun him a bit more than usual. He took them but you could see it wasn't quite as comfortable as usual for him to take them

Parker probably chipped away at his chin too, as did Zhang in the first fight and finished it off in the second.

It doesn't matter how good your chin is because in boxing if you are literally using it as your first line of Defense then it's gonna get cracked sooner or later, especially when it's one fight too many after being cracked fight after fight.

I don't even think the best chins in history could withstand fighting the way Joyce does. That's why good Fighters with elite chins still care about not getting hit. It's just not sustainable to fight the way he does without getting your chin cracked over time .
As well as blocking shots with his head Joyce used to at least ride a proportion of them, nowadays he is just exclusively taking them flush, I think he must have a weird sort of mentality where he expects to get hit in a fight regardless of whether he's performing good or bad

Yes Delboy! IDGAF if he's never been a world champion or elite. One of my favourite fighters. He's a really good pro, charismatic, always turns up to **** and isn't afraid of anybody.

Not every bout has to be high, top tier boxing to be entertaining.

                  And I’m American.
I appreciated it so much that I stopped watching after round 5.

Then Chisora sadly gets KO'd in the late rounds.
True, but Chisora may as well go out with a b ang with one last chance at a title shot instead of just being cannon fodder for somebody like Whyte or some new upstart.

He's not doing it for the fans, he's doing it for the money, the fans are just a perk of the job, and from our perspective we have the privilege of watching on.
