  • Comments Thread For: Derek Chisora does it his way, wins war with Joe Joyce

As Sinatra's "My Way" echoed around London's O2 Arena on Saturday, Derek Chisora saluted his fans. His body was covered in sweat, his face was lumpy and eyes battered into slits - but he had won.

War Chisora!! It was ugly but it was entertaining. People wonder why Chisora keeps getting fights and the answer was very evident in the arena. Not just the roaring masses on their feet singing chants but also his peers like Usyk and Whyte showing their fervor and excitement over the spectacle they just witnessed.

Great fight! Perhaps one of the best of the year. One can say what they will about Chisora but he always keeps it a 100 and leaves it all in the ring. Even at 40 years old. He is still a crowd pleaser and a sentimental favorite. Even though I believed he lost this fight. I am still happy that he won though. That was a beautiful knockdown by the way and a great effort by both guys!

You are absolutely correct and I agree. Dereck always leaves it all in the ring. This was a very hotly contested, highly entertaining and crowd-pleasing fight. In addition, The U.K. just adores "Del Boy". What a very spirted effort by both guys but especially Dereck Chisora?

Amazing slugfest idk how Chisora pulled that one off cuz his legs were GONE in rounds 9 and 10! I mean he did not have his legs under him!!!!!

            Amazing stuff.

I am assuming most of the comments here are from the UK fight fans. I watched it and thought both of them were slow, sloppy with no defense whatsoever. Ugly fight. If Joyce was ever a contender, those days are finished. I think Zhang took it all out of him.

I grossly overrated Joyce 2 years ago.

You need to appreciate it for what it was.

2 guys, who are past their best, who said to themselves “fu#k it. Let’s go.”

Not every bout has to be high, top tier boxing to be entertaining.

                  And I’m American.

Well, youre entitled to your opinion. However, I'm not from the UK and think a boxing fan would have to be blind to not see a great fight there.

It wasnt about skill (as some fights are) as much as it was raw determination, through exhaustion, to score a late knockdown when he himself could barely stand, and pull off the win against a huge fighter who a lot of people were high on a little while back, for a 40 year-old warrior who's been around the block.
