No but atleast Benavidez would be able to hold a real belt.

He already held that title twice and he lost it on the scales once and due to recreational drugs another time. If he weren't such an idiot Canelo would've had to fight him for undisputed and he couldn't have avoided it.

Canelo is to blame for ducking him now, but Benavidez is to blame for the fight having not already happened. Canelo wanted undisputed, he would've taken the Benavidez fight if he actually had something to gain from it.

Well, if he fights the Bivol-Beterbiev winner, he will still get to hold a real belt. At least in the pre-fight photo ops.......lol

Good post. Benavidez has previously shot himself in the foot with his antics. There have definitely been lapses in discipline..

I'm not sure what the reasoning is for Canelo's unwillingness to fight him...Canelo has been inconsistent in his excuses. He didn't want to fight Mexicans but he fought Munguia, he doesn't want to fight people who disrespect him but he fought GGG a third time after claiming he was disrespected. He claims fighters haven't earned it yet he fights guys like Yildirim, Fielding and Berlanga.

I think Benavidez poses some style challenges but I'm not sure who actually wins. What I do know is that Canelo has no interest in fighting him..

Terry, who do you have in Bivol/Beterbiev? I always enjoy your insight in boxing matters. Part of my rational mind says that Bivol wins but I've seen him buzzed by guys like Pascal and Smith and I've been ringside to hear the power of Artur's punches. I have no idea who wins but I suspect it won't be close one way or another. Either Artur batters him or Bivol boxes his ears off.

                Belt or no belt
Nelo will be the one everyone calls out, until he retires.

What is the IBF? Is that a Federal Agency that certifies cuts of meat?

Not if David beats the winner of Bivol and Beterbiev.
