Resume's belong on sheets of paper. If there was any truth to what you are saying why is it that the sheer mention of Benavidez's name is enough for Canelo to lose control of his bowel functions. Even his own fans started booing him after the Munguia fight when he was probed on the Benny fight but couldn't give a straight answer. His own fans are beginning to see the fibre of his cowardice. It's got to the point now that he can't even hide it from them anymore
But no... they would rather take a great fighter, who wants to leave the sport with the same IQ he came into it with... and call him a coward. Nobody is forcing fans to buy these fights... Canelo will not starve. But lets not question the guy's gut check just yet.

Very similar in nature to when Canelo asked for 200 million to fight Benavidez - yes the same guy who's resume you are constantly ridiculing. Perhaps Canelo knows something about Benny that you don't, hey?
So, you would be impressed with Nelo if he had Benny's resume
Good to know

Glad you would be Nelo's biggest fan boy if he had Benny's resume.
At this rate, Benny is sure to be a 1st ballot HOFer

Over 50%…in Mexico…not as a top five…?
In popularity…? In skill set…? In accomplishments…?
Where did you get this information? Was this an article? A poll? Was it from just one source? How many people were asked? A mere 100? 200?
I wonder how many people that get asked/or got asked to name the top fighters of their country what are they basing it on…and if all those people that were asked those same questions watch boxing as much as say someone like a Steve Kim, Dan Rafael, Cus D’ Amato back when he was alive.
On top of that, you’d be surprised how many people from the general public will just mindlessly regurgitate opinions but can’t back up their stance when put on the spot.
You’re out in the street doing public interviews trying to get a feel for who do people think is the best Mexican fighter. You stop five random people. You pose the question: “Canelo or Chavez?”
If they’re 45 and over, most likely they’ll say Chavez.
If younger, they might still say Chavez but some Canelo.
And then sometimes, SOMETIMES, you’ll get someone that’ll scrunch up their face acting undignified when you pose them the question and they’ll say, “Chavez! Are you kidding me? Canelo never fought anyone of note!” And then you come back at them with, “Okay, name me 5 fighters Chavez beat that were highly significant.” And then they just stammer and look stumped trying to rattle off a couple names or three at best. Of course the names exist, but a lot of people aren’t equipped to partake in who’s a good fighter or not because the general public is just that…the general public.
Hell, the general public is going to eat up Canelo-Berlanga but that’s because they don’t know any better.
So again, based on who and where are you pulling this “over 50% in Mexico don’t look at him as a top fighter”? Canelo isn’t a hype job, sir. And I’m not saying or implying he’s better than Chavez (before anyone charges at me with pitchforks and torches).
I’ll take a stab at who are “the top 5 Mexican boxers” right now over Canelo (according to this “source”):
1. Benavidez (Mexican-American…but sure, let’s count him as “Mexican” for argument’s sake)
2. Isaac Cruz
3. William Zepeda
4. Jesse Rodriguez (Mexican-American…?)
5. Oscar Valdez
Am I warm? Marco!…Polo!…
I never said top 5 as in current Mexican fighters...nice try. When I said top 5 Mexicans I was talking OF ALL TIME.
And I don't need to go out and take polls, anyone with a brain can see this. From the reception of the Mexican fan base, the media, his history with Televisa (which i doubt you know about), etc etc.
But hey just continue making up in your head talking points I never made. You're about as intelligent as your paisano Berlanga.

You said top five in your original post, you didn’t actually specify all time. But I’ll acquiesce.
Second, out of curiosity, you don’t think Canelo is at least somewhere in the top 10 Mexican fighters (of all time)?
He’s gotta’ be up there regardless of whatever alienation he may have done to his fan base in Mexico and his reluctance to fight Benny.
