Canelo definitely has no shame, but I'm sure that the backlash that he's hearing is getting under his skin.
Soon he's going to see Benavdez's face where ever he goes, if he hasn't started seeing his face or hearing his name everywhere he goes.

I feel the moment this fight was confirmed I felt like one of those criminals that got pinched by the police and flipped while getting grilled in the interrogation room.

I’m still hoping at some point the Benavidez fight gets made. Not that I think he needs it for hall of fame status (cause that’s already a lock) but because there’s been so much build-up around it that by this point it’s hard to remain optimistic over the probability that Benny will get picked. To me, that Berlanga pick felt like I got whacked by a goodfella while eating at a diner.

I must be an anomaly then. I still don’t think Canelo absolutely needs the fight and I still think he beats Benavidez.

I think Canelo’s counters are too sharp, too experienced, Benavidez has holes in his defense, and I think the moment is going to rattle Benny’s cage when he sees how ballistic the arena/crowd/moment is going to be.

Canelo’s battle-tested and his nerves pass the test. I think what Benavidez has going for him is probably activity (which might go down due to counter punches), and youth…but no. Having said that, I still think wholeheartedly that Canelo beats him.

And if I’m wrong and he beats Canelo, so sue me. I’ll own up to it. But I think Canelo DOES beat him. Always have.
I think you're missing the point. He was his mandatory, he had a build in excuse when he moved up to 168, the one I don't fight mexicans, so I knew he was not looking in that direction. I think has a potential of a fight of the year type. I think you mentioned when he was clipped by Gavril, a very good fighter I might add, how old he was? Do you remember when canelo got clipped by cotto's brother? You shouldn't base your opinion on those past fights, is not going to be a walk in the park for neither one, but there's a reason why he doesn't want to face him, Morrell Jr was his mandatory for three years and didn't want to fight him.

Morrell Jr was mandatory for three years and was the only 168 pounder that welcomed any fight, regardless of their level of danger. Actually he wanted to fight benavidez real bad, he didn't care about canel because he said, and I quote, canelo wouldn't fight me, ever. So my take is that canelo is holding the belts hostage, he's fighting berlanga that should tell you where he is at, change berlanga (he took DMJ place)for Morrell Jr and he will run for his life. It's all ginger's fault, you can use strategies when you in the ring not to avoid the rightfully players in your own division. You can't call yourself a king when you haven't beat the warlords asking for your head.
Benavidez/Canelo have become tethered, and Morrell is the third wheel. Morrell was never going to get Canelo because he would've needed to remove Benavidez from the equation. As long as there's a chance Benavidez/Canelo can happen, PBC will not produce Benavidez/Morrell. It would be foolish to think that Canelo is the only one who's career is being carefully navigated. Canelo is just one of few that earns 8 figures while doing it. You could strip every single title from Canelo, and I'm convinced that nothing would change. The contenders (and their teams) would still pxssyfoot around each other because they are still within Canelo's sphere of influence, and all of them desire that career-altering matchup. He became the first 168lb Undisputed champion for a reason. Canelo's marquee value attracts the titles. The temptation of the cash-cow matchup shatters the illusion of boxing as a "sport" and proves that it's a "business". Inoue is beginning to have a similar impact in the lighter weights; MJ is waiting around instead of remaining active, and no unifications are happening at 126.

It's Crap. Well he is no longer undisputed so that is a plus. He is not longer holding all the division hostage.

          • Raise your limp wrists if you took a pish on Benny fighting shot LeMeh, DooDoo, Plant (his best W) or EVERY FIGHT that came before them ?!?!?

IOW, who here gets a stiffy seeing Benny's resume ?!?!?!

            • Boxing is only left on a couple of networks and I think that will end soon. The networks like dazn and ESPN will get rid of this crap because the ratings suck the best are not fighting the best. Hopefully they end their contracts and go with UFC

Beating an old Lemieux, Andrade, and Plant is far more deserving than anything Munguia, Jermell, Ryder, Saunders, Yildrim, Callum Smith, Fielding, Chavez Jr, and Liam Smith EVER did. But we know why Canelo took those fights but denied David Benavidez and Golovkin initially when they were mandatories.

And this is coming from someone that always wants Mexico to win.....but Canelo has done a HUGE disservice to Mexican boxing history/legacy.

                    • You have to be comically ****** to **** on Benny's resume in order to try and defend Ginger ducking him. But then, you have to be comically ****** to be a fan of Ginger in the first place.
