When canelo won, instead of facing ggg, he picked a voluntary which was khan….a joke of a fight. Then moves down to weight bully beefy smith and then fights a drug addicted Chavez jr at a catch weight of 163.5 after insisting that he wouldn’t fight ggg at 160 because he needed time to “grow into the weight”. He didn’t fight ggg until he saw vulnerability in his last two fights with Brook and Jacobs. Fought him at 35 and got one of the most absurd draws in boxing. Was supposed to have a rematch and got popped for peds. Had the rematch and while he fought better, still didn’t deserve the win. Of 50 press row scorecards, only 2 had him winning. But the judges as they always have done with canelo, found a way to give him the benefit of the doubt. So I don’t hold him in the same esteem as you do.

As far as benavidez “losing” to Gavril, he didn’t. He’s undefeated. Had a close fight and came back to rematch and win convincingly. Sure you can criticize him for the failed drug test and missing weight but let’s not forget that canelo also failed a vada test and has missed weight twice. A bit hypocritical to hold that against benavidez as an excuse for canelo not fighting him. Wouldn’t you say?
He wasn't on the decline so much as he raised the level of his competition. He did just defeat two undefeated fighters right before Canelo. He was still at/near his prime. Plus, it doesn't change the fact that Canelo still moved up to fight the boogeyman of a higher weight class. Respect.

It was not done in a fair fashion as he slapped a rehydration clause on Kovalev (first time he was ever subjected to one) so he didn't do it in a legit way so that is null and void.

I'm not denying that the Kovalev fight favored Canelo. But he did still go back up to face a prime undefeated champion in Bivol. He fell short, but he tried. These days, you can't even get guys to fight people in their own weight class.

You are one lazy casual. There are tons of commentary and articles on this, including official statements from WBC. Here is one from Boxing Scene.

David Benavidez was granted a two-week extension by the World Boxing Council on Friday to decide whether he wants to remain mandatory super middleweight challen

I’m not sure what Canelo did to Bradley but his language isn’t that of an analyst, rather it’s crossed the line into a personal insult .Perhaps Bradley’s wife lusts for Canelo . I don’t know but his hatred is toxic. As for most of the anti Canelo posters , if you want to criticize Canelo on a boxing basis ,fine . But if you start with sexual innuendo, call a proven professional fighter a coward, insult his fans and downgrade all his victories then you reveal yourselves as haters whose opinions shouldn’t be respected.

Don't forget, Canelo taking the Bivol fight was an indirect duck from facing Benavidez. PBC presented him with the option of fighting Jermall then Benny while Matchroom offered him Bivol then 40 year old GGG. Canelo no doubt watched Bivol labour to victory against Craig Richards after the pandemic and began salivating "low lying fruit, in a new division, nearly a year out of the ring, and a belt, then the ghost of Golovkin - light work".

Canelo, to his mind anyway, undoubtably took the path of least resistance. But it backfired in his face dramatically - he got his calculations so wrong not even Vegas could save him . Now everybody knows Bivol is a guy Canelo wants no parts of at any weight.

It wasn't a duck. Benavidez had even less to offer pre-Plant/Andrade.

Canelo's starting weight class was 147. Bivol's was 175. That's a 4 weight class difference. Canelo fought someone taller, bigger, younger, and fresher. I agree on some level that it was a calculated risk that backfired, but he still dared to be great.

Meanwhile, Benavidez moves up 1 division to 175, puts on a crap performance against the shell of Gvozdyk, and comes running back down to his starting weight class of 168.

                    There's no comparison.

I agree Canelo should fight Benny but at this point Canelo calls the shot and will do as he pleases so even though am disappointed as a fan, I understand the game and don't get worked up over it. I just wish most of you have the same outcry when Floyd was doing this same thing. Tank is doing something similar and most of you are not in uproar either, just saying with the double standard.
