Tourneys tend to highlight the political and obstructionist behavior. There's always certain promoters who withhold their fighters from participating.

Not sure why these buma$$ belt orgs can't do them for each weight class or combine 2 weight classes?

Stars were made from that. Most notably Andre Ward and Carl Froch.

super six was great and if i remember right it was really the top 6 of the division at the time, wasnt something lame where top guys were standing on the outside. would like to see that again if they can pull it off.

The only guy missing was Bute, think he was with HBO whilst the S6 was on Showtime.

I honestly cannot think of a negative regarding tourneys... the super 6 was fantastic. People tend to forget... Not only did Ward win the thing, he was an underdog! I think maybe Froch was the front runner? anyone remember?

Wouldn't it be grand if the Saudis, having the money and all, did something like the super 6 for the heavyweights? perhaps taking the super six from just below Usyk, Tyson, and whoever was considered the third best? I guess depending on the Dubois/Joshua fight...

Abraham and Kessler were joint favourites crazily. Not so surprising for Kessler but just shows how much hype Abraham had coming up from 160.

I backed Ward at 10/1, he was the largest price of any of the six.

Froch and Ward were actually the biggest underdogs, who turned out being the final and by far the beat careers of the tornuament. Only two in the HOF from there.

Do you reckon Kessler ever gets in? I always put him and Froch at the same level.

We wouldn't need tournaments if the best would consistently fight the best and sanctioning bodies properly ranked fighters.

ESPN had the Boxcino tournaments back in the day. Most of the contestants were a few rungs from contender but it was a nice mix of stalled prospects, veteran gatekeepers and some foreign unknowns.

I think the last one was in 2015, Fedesov won the HW tourney and John Thompson IV beat Brandon Adams from the Contender (via upset KO) in the junior middleweight tourney.

                      I miss those tournaments.
