I expected Froch to get destroyed. He didn’t rate him at all back then, I picked him to lose to Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, and Bute with ease.
Wasn’t until he beat the living hell out of Bute that I became a fan. His tjept constantly proving me wrong.
I didn’t give him much chance in the Super 6 tbh, the Taylor fight had won me over but it also exposed a lot of his flaws. I did think he got lucky getting the decision against Dirrell though. Abraham was a really good performance, complete shutout.
I did back Froch to beat Bute, sure he was like 9/2 by KO. Bute was one of those fighters I just never rated and the fact he was leaving Canada made me quite confident Froch was gonna do a job on him. Was it the Andrade fight where the ref saved him? After that fight, I was always pretty cold on Bute. Really fancied Froch that night, I ended up going as well, was a real hostile atmosphere.

My idea has been for the 4 major sanctioning bodies to split the world into 4 quarters and each take a quarter
For example
IBF - Africa/Oceania
WBC - South/Latin America
WBA - North America
WBO - Europe/Asia
Have each have a champion and then hold a tournament ever 2 or 3 years where the 4 champions face off in an official tournament to crown the "Lineal/Ring" champion
That way, the 4 bodies can continue to take their take off the top & we get to have a real champion as well.

I liked the 5 vs 5 between Matchroom vs Queensbury.
That actually had some pretty competitive and interesting match ups, minus the Wilder Zhang.
If Saudi Arabia has disposable money to throw at it and host a huge tournament style structure, I’d be down for it. Get more promoters involved. More boxers.
Make it a new tradition like a playoffs structure or something. Invite all major promotional outfits. Maybe have like a popular vote. Kind of like an All Star structure vote from the boxing fans.
Actually get fans involved in it.
All the key promotional outfits from all of boxing throw their hats in. You get the best boxers from the best promotions. Throw it all onto a show.
Almost like a Golden Gloves styled tournament. All weight classes. Females too.
I’m talking huge.
Maybe host a biannual thing cuz it’ll be so much.
Then the boxers and promoters who win can claim they have the best boxers in their weight class. Keep track of which promotion has the most wins and whatnot.
Give out awards.
The point is boxing has to evolve at some point. It’s too stagnant with where it is.Last edited by Rico_box; 07-16-2024, 10:11 PM.
