Still a good number, especially in this day and age of instant Youtube replay. It could be less.

There seems to be this desperation to have all PBC events do poorly. Tank v Martin sold close to 14k seats. Had a great live gate. That suggests the ppv did more than what the TS is saying.

Note the TS always puts out an uncorroborated number regarding a pbc ppv.
Crazy how nobody ain’t saying anything about Ryan’s numbers, and his fight was 2 months ago.

I never understand why people are still expecting huge numbers like close to one million.

I remember Richard Schaefer always projecting huge PPV numbers on big fights, especially the ones he promote. He gets disappointed when PPV numbers are far from his projection. He believed HBO was cheating and hiding real numbers. But that's just one of the reasons why he packed his bags and took along all GBP fighters with him and moved to Showtime.

So then his plan was to put most of his fights on PPV. And since he had close ties with Espinoza and Haymon, he felt he's on the driver's seat and now had full access to the PPV numbers. To his dismay his initial PPV shows didn't show huge numbers. In other words, they all tanked. He eventually did most of his fights on regular subscriptions. The Maidana vs Broner was supposed to be on PPV. Likewise the Garcia vs Matthysse was supposed to be on a separate card, but Garcia wanted $2 million and the fight didn't almost get made. So then they decided to put it on Mayweather's undercard. In the end, Espinoza finally made an announcement that Showtime would no longer be releasing PPV numbers unless they're very significant. And that was many years ago. These are just samples of stories boxing writers should have documented.

Everyone saying Ryan wasn't a factor in their fight and had little influence on PPV numbers just got a wake up call. It proves that fans won't spend their money unless the fight has some level of intrigue and it's not a total mismatch.

These articles indicates the number of ppv buys exceeds 800k.

I don’t know if this is true. I think Tank is a star but this would be incredible.

If Tank does 800k with Martin, it creates a real debate about the face of the sport because I doubt Canelo does anywhere near that without Benavidez, Crawford or Spence, unless he waits for the Bivol v Bieterbiev winner.

Don’t know why at this point the number hasn’t been verified.

Has anybody notice that we will be in July and PBC has only produced 2 boxing cards the whole year? What happens to all those PBC fighters sitting on the shelf?

Sad to see PBC fail, I always rooted for them but Sam this is sad to see. Nobody wants to get ripped off by Haymon and Co. anymore

You sure? If I am correct:

                Canelo/ Mungui

                Tszyu/Fondura

                Tank/Martin

                Rolly/Pitbull

                Figueroa/ Magdalena

Anyone who thinks Tank/Martin did 800K buys is outside of their mind. It's likely 150K - 200K. Even then let's be honest, some of that as the Benavidez undercard. Without a good undercard this fight flops miserably. Same with attendance, Benavidez has his hometown Arizona fans right across the state line.

I recall when friends and myself were actually excited to purchase a ppv
                    That’s come and gone lol
I was a sort of on the line fan for many years and became more of a fan because in New York City and San Francisco there were opportunities to watch the fights. As a thirty year old, with our first born son, we had this very special place with a little courtyard. I worked at a large hotel with all kinds of people who loved the fights... Because we had a nice central spot, I had people over, we would have a grill running in the yard, this was on the upper West Side of NYC... I had every major fight... We created fans, because a lot of South East Asian guys were friends with the Dominicans and Puerto Rican Guys who all grew up with a love for boxing.... On those evenings my place looked like a freakin' United Nations Delegation! lol.

And in San Francisco Sports Bars and Mexican Bars had the fights. A night I will never forget is when Buster fought Tyson... I saw that the fight was in the upper Haight near me, and I had graduate school work to do... I almost didn't go to the fight! Thank the Lord I am a lazy btard! By the time Buster was still alive after 4 rounds or so? the place was a madhouse! People could not believe it! I had gotten there early, so I got to watch as people got more and more involved. When I left that bar that night I felt, and still feel, like I had witnessed an piece of Murican History. That one day my crinkly ole a s s would be telling some hotshot boygirl about that night...lol.

So Yeah the fans... These fighters just don't get the importance and it is sad!

The Australian Aborigines have a separate world they inhabit that parallels this one. Best translation would be "the dream world." It is entirely possible in this world Tank hit 800!
