Why so much hate for Haney? He's obviously a very talented, world class fighter who pushed himself against top competition at a young age. Show some respect!

"Haney scaled 140 pounds as he challenged Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title. However, “The Dream” then rehydrated to 165 pounds for fight night. That’s an increase of 18 percent in the hours between the weigh-in and the first bell."
"the California State Athletic Commission rule that had been passed in 2019, prohibiting any fighter from going above 15 percent body weight. In fact, the CSAC had vowed to cancel any bout that broke those rules."

That's a good point. Even if it wasn't illegal I still believe it's cheating.

No I made a point of saying it didn't violate a rule. I agree with you.

Rehydrating in excessive amounts to some of us is cheating. It makes weight classes really obsolete.
No it doesn’t make weight classes obsolete.

It means some people have genetic differences. Similar to how Hagler and GGG spent over a dozen years at MW, always making 160.

Cheating means you violated the rules. Rehydrating doesn’t violate any rules.

It seems the majority of people using the terms weight bully or cheat are mad that a fighter beat someone they like.

First he lost to Loma and got a gift and then to Cryan and is suing.

MF comes in as a HW and then tells people the other guy was huge.

No not all of us... Some people feel being a weight bully is a form of cheating. Coming into a fight 10 plus pounds over to me is a very obvious advantage that should not be given to any fighter. Does that mean I target fighters who I don't like because I feel this way?

I actually was a fan of Haney. I really started having second thoughts after the prograis fight.

I just wonder why people have to be lumped into general categories. Let's look at the issue itself. One issue is did Haney break a law coming in as he did in the prograis fight? No he did not. I acknowledge that with Big d and I'll acknowledge it with you.

That doesn't make it right and it doesn't make it not cheating in my opinion. It makes Hainy a hypocrite in many respects. You have a guy who basically thought you get an easy fight so he took the fight with Ryan knowing Ryan was cheating. Then we'll tell us "oh wait He's cheating even more!"

You have a guy who himself takes advantage that way even if not breaking a law, then claims to be a victim. I'm not buying it and I don't have any previous hate for him as a fighter.

Dude is reaping what he sowed. In my book at least.

Haney also uses IVs for rehydrating. Really not a natural way of approaching a fight. Let’s step in the ring but only if I can infuse myself these rehydration bags or else I end up as a plant.

Exactly, it's just a combination of the Tank stans who hate every fighter who's a threat to Tank & racist ass Mexicans mad their guy cheated in order to beat him, plus the racists who still mad that he beat Lomachenko.

Billeau, with all due respect - you don't get to make up your own rules for the sport as you see fit.

Regis Prograis rehydrated 17.8lbs against Haney. Is he a cheater too?

"Haney is a weight bully", "Manny weight drained Cotto", "Chad Dawson was drained against Andre Ward".... it's all nonsense. These are the weights (and rehydration clauses, or lack thereof) that both sides agreed to.

EVERY fighters team's JOB is to put them in a position where they have the most possible advantages.

Weight, rehydration, location, gloves, ring size, etc. are all negotiated.

If one fighter doesn't like what the deal is, he can pull the plug at any time. That's how this sport works.

Devin Haney agreed to fight Ryan Garcia despite Garcia being overweight. He did NOT agree to fight Garcia on PEDs.

There is only one cheater in the conversation, and his name is Ryan Garcia.

Haney has been known as one of the biggest cry babies in the sport.
                    Not to mention he’s P4P #1 ugly.

Why am I not on the Ring P4P list?!
Why am I not the fighter if the year?!
Why am I not this, that….

Despite Garcia’s PED results, the statistical correction, the fact remains, Devin is ugly and he got his ass destroyed. That’s why so many people make fun of him.

Nobody agrees in principle or in contract to a weight rehydration of incredible weight. And Haney agreed to fight Ryan knowing that Ryan already cheated on the weight... So he would be guilty of the same but for the mere fact a law was involved.

If Tacit agreement is your focal point then what of Haneys agreement to fight despite Ryan's weight? I'm not saying the steroids are irrelevant but in principle the agreement was made with the same understanding.

Finally, yes rehydrating is part of the game but so is taking steroids. The only difference is one is legally not allowed the others not illegal. Both are tolerated. It was never intended for fighters to fight at different weights because of rehydration.
