I really doubt Povetkin "didn't take it" when he failed another drug test in his very next fight for a similar drug.

Sorry, there was no evidence he took it after it was banned. He was still showing trace levels for a while after. The fact a few other tests came up clean don't prove anything except that tests miss these things sometimes. We're seeing it all the time.

Ironically if all his other tests showed it, he'd have been considered to be above board and not just by the WBC.

I favoured Povetkin to beat Wilder back then and I still believe he had the skills, mentality and resilience to do it. If we're talking about Wilder at his best VS Povetkin at his best, I would bet on the Russian winning that fight and possibly by KO. Povetkin was a very good fighter in his prime. Wilder had that bomb but Povetkin had very good power too....combined with skill.

Povetkin was scared to fight Wilder he was front row after the Szpilka fight so I think he wanted an edge ,should he be allowed whatever under legal limit ? Why not ,who would win ? Not sure that’s the thing with Wilder it’s neither here or there . But Wilder is a defending champion, Povetkin won’t show that but ironically Wlad Klitschko was the actual scary puncher who could box and could decide to what type of fight he wanted, unfortunately boxing fans are dumb and will remember Wilder more then Klitschko.

It's pretty apparent that Wilder and Fury ruined each other in their epics; and once Wilder hit his late 30s, Eddie Hearn signed Wilder and literally paid him tens of millions to get him out of Joshua's path, placing the guy inactive 2 years in with tricky runner Parker and effectively unbeaten iron man Zhang.
