But it's obvious that he's lost a step at this point. For most of his career he's defied the odds by having sub par skills & fundamentals (terrible footwork, limited tools/weapons, and almost nonexistent defense) yet with physical abilities (power and SPEED) he was able to gain and defend the WBC belt for a good stretch.

People can talk about the recent wars he's been in or the age or resume BS all they want but that's all conjecture. What I simply see is he's slowed down a bit, which was clearly displayed with Zhang, notoriously known as a slow plodding heavy hitter, beat him to the punch in that KO. .... let's be honest SPEED BEATS POWER in the fight game, every time.

If he needs to shore up his cash, sure take a bout with Ngannou if available, or try to get the fight with AJ that we were robbed of years ago, both would at least be lucrative, but I'd rather he soak up some humility and retire with at least some cognitive abilities and health.
He's lost SEVERAL steps since many points ago.

The Tyson Fury beating really changed Wilder since the 2nd fight.

Wilder has been declining hard since then.

And that KO he acheived against Hellenius was expected. Didn't prove much, it was Hellenius (with all due respect)

      FACTS!!

I honestly don't want to see him back in the ring because his last several performances have been SUPER disappointing.

Unfortunately, I feel stubbornness will play a role and he probably returns for the right price.

And if he does, well, if he gets punished again, he asked for it

I can't see him going back to fighters of his level outside the top 10. It would just be embarrassing.
        Well said.

AJ humiliates Wilder at this point and several other names.

        Wilder needs to leave man

          I completely agree 100%

For the last few years he has had layoffs for over a year. I thought he was done until they signed the Parker fight and he got handled bad. Those 3 Fury fights really took it out of him plus he made a lot of money being such a limited fighter.

              Completely agree.

Yeah them Fury beatings took almost everything out of Wilder and completely changed him no doubt.

I feel it's over for him unless he fights people like Ngannou for big checks, which he probably will do and I would care less about.

But how many fighters have retired and returned for money? Many.

Wilder said he would retire, but with enough money, he probably doesn't which is lame IMHO.

I DON'T want to see him back man.
In principle I agree with you, but... who's going to pay him big money if he's not capable of pulling the trigger anymore? That's not the Wilder they want to see (as Turki already said to him after the Parker fight).

Another fighter looking to bolster his record with big names who are no longer a big threat. I've seen it done

From an entertainment perspective I like watching him, but as far as him being able to compete at a high level anymore + the sake of his health, yeah its probably time for him to call it a day. Hes taken a lot of damage in the last few years.

Well, they have been dishing out loads of money already even though he has been showing obvious signs of decline for years.

I am sure they will again for another fight.
