To me it looked like Wilder couldn't pull the trigger and that's a problem with delivering the power, not a lack of punching power.
If the squared circle is a truth machine, we shall discover the truth tomorrow.
I can't remember a sequence in that Parker fight where Wilder landed a significant amount of offense. There was never a moment in the fight where I felt Parker was in danger of getting KO'ed. Parker isn't Zhang. Zhang is a huge target and he lacks agility. All Zhang has is the weight difference. If Wilder is truly gun-shy, it will show tomorrow.

Wilder can box if he wants to (see the first Stiverne fight, as I mentioned earlier in this thread). He prefers throwing wild punches because that's his instinct, and that's why there's still a high degree of risk for him in this fight. But if he manages to put his mind in control of his actions in the ring, and approaches Zhang more intelligently than just throwing bombs, he wins easy. Admittedly, it's a big "if"...

Zhang is 41 and coming in over 280 lbs, don’t think he did a whole lot of road work for this fight. I’m favoring Wilder in this one.

Yes. Whenever Wilder showed some intention to land a big right hand, Parker moved a step closer and closed the distance and countered him. Wilder was useless than. Zhang will not do that and Zhang doesn`t have Parker`s speed. Zhang fight will tell what Wilder is now.

We actually agree. he looked like he couldn`t pull the trigger and use his power, but it is also true, that Parker was all wrong for him.

Zhang is a huge slow target. Now we will see if Wilder still has any power.

Logically I have to go with Zhang.

Even in their last fights, Wilder just had absoloutley no idea how to deal with Parker and looked out of his depth.

Zhang was just fat and lazy but still blew parkers nose up, dropped him twice and looked more dangerous.

When I think about the fighters Wilder has impressively stopped early, who are they?

His sparring partners Helenius and Scuba Scott and one foot in the grave Stiverne 2,and that's about it?

Basic tough guys like Molina and Duhaupas took plenty of shots off Wilder, so did glass chin Szpilka up until the clean KO, so did fury.

Realistically Zhang should have at least some margin of error, he's never looked fragile, I'd imagine his chin is at least as good as Duhaupas, no reason to belive otherwise.

But Zhang is an extremely quick handed and skilled counterpuncher and he hits a lot harder than anyone Wilder has ever fought.

I realize Zhang has flaws but when I look at the two, at this stage of their careers, if I haven't read this completley wrong it's a Zhang win all day?

The only way I see Wilder winning is if he does nothing but run and throw nothing but singles for 10 rounds and Zhang falls over in round 10, 11 or 12 gassed off his nut.

I would say Wilder could have beaten him. It aint going to be easy for Wilder coming off after a long period of inactivity and a loss. The confidence, footwork and timing could be totally out which is why he was so ineffective against Parker.
