I think Fury will absolutely destroy Usyk in the rematch. One thing about Fury is that he has always demonstrated an impressive ability to adapt in rematches. After being taken the distance with Chisora he heavily switch-hitted in the rematch & spent about 60% of it in southpaw stance which led to a KO. After drawing with wilder (and very nearly getting knocked out) he ditched boxing in favour of aggressive front foot pressure in the rematch which again led to a KO. Granted Usyk is an incredible fighter with a sky high IQ but Fury will probably reflect on the moments where he hurt him and should be able to strategize a game plan where he can use his size effectively to fight with evil intent.
From the perspective of strategy, Fury has more room to improve than Usyk, throw more combinations, be more aggressive, stick to the uppercut, while taking the boxer role in shorter spells so his body can rest. But the key question is if he can follow what worked for him from the get go; being the attacker isn't really his bread and butter--as Breadman Edwards noted, he was able to stick to that in the second and third fights with Wilder because of Wilder's limited arsenal.
Another important question to consider is how both fighters will recover. Fury has already had his share of struggles, both in and out of the ring. Added to the fact that bigger bodies are more prone to issues, and I can see more difficulties for Fury in the second bout. Usyk also has a good amount of miles on his tank, let's not forget that, so there's lot of fascinating intangibles going forward. Can't wait.
He barely lost and he did hurt Usyk a couple of times. His best bet is to fight the way he did in the second wilder fight. Though I hope Usyk flattens him and sends him into retirement. Fury has gotten to where he has because he has good good skills yes but being 6’9 and as high as 20 stone
Depends how you score those early rounds. I thought it was fairly close but Usyk whooped that ass in the 2nd half of the fight.
What I expect for the 2nd fight:
1. Fury won't do any weird bull**** antics in the ring. The hands on the ropes and arms behind the back ****, while he swerved ZERO punches and landed no flashy **** during those upsides, was ****ing embarrassing.
2. John Fury wont be in the corner. There will be one voice in there.
3. He will actually look Usyk in the eye at the weigh in.
4. If John Fury is in the corner and Tyson acts weird again in the run up to thw fight, bet the house on Usyk
The only thing I'd say here is contrary to opinion, Fury was actually the boxer, and the boxer usually goes better second time out, it's arguably Fury who will know now what works and what does not.
In saying that, I'll be picking Usyk, chiefly because he is able to land the big punch to change a bout, whereas it doesn't seem like Fury has that (save for impactful body shots).
Well Joshua improved 2nd time out and it still wasn't good enough. The difference here is I don't see Fury being able to improve on that performance - only try a different approach.
Also Fury is an ego guy. Now he has lost - it could be over for him. He is even now deluded that if he hadn't have played around so much he would have won. If he truly believes that and just does the same thing again he will lose again
