  • History won't be kind to Fury

Now that he is likely retired , allow me to sum up his career. He was knocked down early in his career by a tier 3 eastern euro guy. He really lost to fat John McDermott, but was gifted win. He fought Dereck Chisora THREE times. He struggled with a 37 year old Steve Cunningham, who floored him, and was badly cut by Otto Wallin. Klitschko was 40 years old with nearly 70 fights of mileage on him. And that fight was a dull jab fest between two guys afraid to pull the trigger. Fury deserved credit for beating Wilder when he was still undefeated. But at 35 years old I’m not even sure if Wilder was prime. And as we saw Wilder was over rated. The Francis N’gaou fight was a disgrace. Many say he lost or drew to an 0-0 fighter. And in all that time Fury was around he never once faced a man his own size let alone bigger in his prime. NEVER. He’s probably one of the weakest lineal champs in the sports history.

And don't forget he tested positive for PED's. How many fight was he on something and not caught? And Fury was docked points in 5 separate fights. The man is DIRTY.

He fought just one guy who was very good in prime and lost that one. Did I miss anything? That is his legacy. He duped boxing fans, milked his belt, was floored 8 times and beat no one ring magazine raked under 34, when he was in his prime. Now that Fury is 35, he can add more to his loses. Vs prime men like AJ or Hrgovic his size.

You make good points about PED’s etc

But at the end of the day, he beat Klitschko who was #1, in his backyard, as heavy underdog.

And he beat Wilder, who was #1, in his backyard, as heavy underdog.

Regardless of things that he definitely deserves criticism for, he deserves a lot of credit for these wins.

Fury vs TBRB top 10 and/or fighters that won a legitimate world title:
W vs Steve Cunningham KO 7 (former 2X IBF cruiserweight champion)
W vs C. Wladimir Klitschko UD 12 (reigning lineal/TBRB/Ring/WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion; fmr. WBO heavyweight champion)
D vs #2 Deontay Wilder SD 12 (reigning WBC heavyweight champion)
W vs #1 Deontay Wilder TKO 7 (reigning WBC heavyweight champion)
W vs #2 Deontay Wilder KO 11 (former WBC heavyweight champion)
              W vs #3 Dillian Whyte KO 6
L vs C. Oleksandr Usyk SD 12 (reigning TBRB/Ring/WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion; fmr. undisputed cruiserweight champion)

Other notable wins: Christian Hammer, Derek Chisora X3, Otto Wallin

There's no denying it, it's a pretty damn soft resume. Did not fight most of the other titlists or contenders of his era. Where were the fights against Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz, Joseph Parker, David Haye, Bermane Stiverne, Alexander Povetkin, Kubrat Pulev, Chris Arreola, Luis Ortiz?

But those Klitschko and Wilder wins were undeniably great wins.

In Usyk words, " big belly " lost. Fury was just another alphabet champ. He is like 3rd or 4th best in his era. No more than that, and the guy is dirty as a $#^t house rat. He hiked his trunks , and cup / body guard for his belly and kidneys extra high for protection in this fight ( boxing needs to regulate on other fighters ) and was border line low a few times.

But I will say he is tough and a real fighter despite his cheating ways.

Boxing is the only sport where one guy can be a bum and a hype job fraud who was never anything special and anyone who was any good would have beaten him

But beating that same guy makes another guy a top 10 ATG

Thankfully history isn't decided by lunatics on boxing forums

Did you really just ask where his fight was with David Haye?

Do you hold the same standard with Inoue? Where are his fights with Gonzalez, Estrada, Cuadras etc?

Or is this just you moving the goalpost again as usual?

Why even bring up rankings for Tyson Fury when you don’t count them anyway? Like you do for fighters you like.
