the thing with Joshua is it wouldn't matter if he was 6'2 or 6'6 because he fights at one range in a crouched position, so his height or reach are never a factor. That's not knocking Joshua, he's a very good fighter in that style but that's pretty much all he can do and that's playing into Usyk's hands.

I don't understand how some of you can watch boxing and not understand these things. having a reach advantage is of no importance if you don't use. Joshua doesn't fight in a style to use a reach advantage and he fights in such a crouched position that he's basically giving up his height anyway, so it's really not relevant. you're going on pure measurement and not taking into account how they actually use it...or don't.

By your theory, everyone that is a similar size fights the same way. Your theory is about a sensible as saying that Fury has already encountered fighting somebody that's smaller like Usyk because he's fought Chisora who is the same height as Usyk. But we know that's ******, but so is comparing Fury and AJ. Completely different style.

I don't know what some of you guys are looking at and thinking about when you are watching boxing but you're obviously not taking in even basic knowledge
Lol you completely MISSED the point...firstly, I'm perfectly aware that AJ and Fury have completely DIFFERENT fighting styles. For example, Fury tends to fight long and uses a lot of feints combined with much better head/upper body movement and mixes it up well to both the head and body. However, the other poster was asking how Usyk will deal with Fury keeping him at range and having a superior weight advantage and I simply replied that he's faced this conundrum before in the sense that he's dealt with a much taller, heavier, athletic, natural top Heavyweight with a longer reach and used his superior footwork and ring IQ to outbox him. That is ALL.

Also, Fury tried his best to keep Ngannou at range at times during their fight yet despite all the feinting and jumping around, Ngannou was able to utilise his BASIC MMA footwork to great effect landing plenty of hard shots on Tyson both at range and up close and enjoyed a LOT of success in the southpaw position. Therefore, what makes you think that an almost technically perfect master boxer like Usyk with much better footwork won't be able to do the same thing? Especially considering that he also has the advantage in both hand speed and work rate too?

In fact, what makes you so certain that Tyson will ACTUALLY fight long? Who's to say that he doesn't take the fight to him and try to take his head off like Fury-Wilder 2 (especially since Usyk is vulnerable to the body)?

Turki wants to make Fury vs AJ. And there's no doubt at all that that fight would make way more money for everybody involved, on both sides of the pond, if Fury beats Usyk and puts all his championship belts on the line vs AJ.
If we're all being honest here, If he goes to the cards and it's a close fight, Fury will 100% get the nod.

I've got a feeling that Usyk knows this, hence him bulking up, i think he's looking for a stoppage.

    Turki wants Fury vs AJ

Otherwise, it will be difficult because Usyk will have to box a little farther from his opponent than he is used to due to Fury's sizeable reach advantage. Also, Fury's upper body movement and fighting off the back foot can make hitting more difficult for Usyk. Not to mention Fury's excellent jab and feints will always keep Usyk guessing. He got hit by a few from Joshua so he is hittable for sure, it is just that Joshua fought the same way to which Usyk quickly adjusted. Fury won't be the same...at least not the best Fury.
I've always thought that, if both guys are at their best, Fury vs Usyk is a 50/50, pick 'em type fight, due to the fact that the skill and technique advantages Fury is used to having won't be there against Usyk. And, as I said in my other comment, Fury's height and size will be a double edged sword against a guy as fast and mobile as Usyk.

Sad to say, I don't think the best version of Tyson Fury exists any more, which is why I'm picking Usyk to win.

I just hope there isn’t BS scorecards. I always worry about that in a big fight involving Bob and TR.

I just want a great fight.

Also, Usyk has the advantage in terms of hand+foot speed so should be able to get out of the way of a lot of Fury's shots whilst tagging him with a flurry of his own. In other words, I think he'll use his elite amateur pedigree to outbox him over 12 rounds.

Let's not forget that Ngannou is just one inch taller than Usyk and a complete newbie to boxing yet managed to tag Fury at WILL whilst dropping him and narrowly losing a fight many people thought he won. Tyson and his team have also been behaving erratically too since the fight was announced whereas Usyk has been as cool as a cucumber so he definitely has the mental edge.

I'm expecting Usyk to get inside Fury's reach and build a points lead, round by round, by consistently throwing and landing more punches than Fury. Usyk by UD is my prediction.

Fury 8-12. The question is if Usyk can survive.

Fury looks in good shape and I think it’s clear the game plan is to keep it long. Usyk is quite selective with his punches, he can be overly patient like Loma, Klitschko etc, I think back to the Bellew fight and how it took him a little while to get inside Bellew’s jab. I’m almost certain Fury wins this fight by a boring and quite ugly decision.

It’s a weird feeling because I do want Usyk to win but I just can’t see it happening when analysing the fight.
