  • Comments Thread For: Former Champ Doheny Confident Of Securing A Date With The Monster

Former IBF super-bantamweight champion TJ Doheny is experiencing a renaissance, demonstrating that despite his advancing years, the 37-year-old remains a threat within the 122lbs division.

Doheny's last good win was against Iwasa in 2018. Since then he has beaten no-hopers and lost to Danny Roman, Ionut Baluta, Michael Conlan, and Sam Goodman. There is absolutely no reason he should get an Inoue fight before Goodman, Akhmadaliev, Casimero, Aleem, or even a bantamweight moving up like Nakatani or Nishida.

      Doheny-Liam Davies would be good.

This would be very dangerious because I don't believe Inoue want a death on his record against a senior.

Mismatch. Doheny has had a decent career but he's a bit shopworn and Inoue might do some significant damage to him if they fought.

I just thought about this but do you guys think the monster would catch rigo or just get frustrated from chasing him?

I have a feeling that if it is not Goodman in September then it will be MJ, not Doheny. If he is believing whatever Arum says, he needs to consider that guy is notoriously known to spurt out matches and ideas that never actually is close to materializing.

Casimero needs to fight whichever of MJ and Goodman isn't fighting Inoue next to earn a mandatory position, or shut up forever.

Neither one of those guys is taking a Casimero fight while they already have a mandatory shot at Inoue lined up.

Casimero should fight Aleem or Davies or Doheny.
