Crawford is the clear #1 I think.

Why is that? Crawford certainly has a claim to be regarded as the top fighter in the sport still, but I tend to think that people who place him above Inoue do so mostly because Crawford is more famous. His credentials and performances don't really separate him at this point.

Right, first step in any debate is define and agree upon the terms, criteria. A few people have asked the right questions, but you're just not going to get consensus on an internet forum, so the debate is always going to be (sometimes equally intelligent) people talking past each other getting pissed.

Kav was 5 years ago and was a flash KD. Gamboa was a decade ago. Neither were mistakes that big. Inoue got countered with a wide looping punch and was down and hurt.

Inoue’s KD was MEANINGLESS. A flash KD while he wasn’t balanced properly. He was unfazed by it.

Inoue rushed in trying to push the action looking for a quick KO. Unlike him, and likely due to the Nery/Yamanaka thing. He got up, cleared his head and went back to his usual gameplan and didn't lose a minute of the rest of the fight.

I think there's not much or rather nothing to criticise inoue about so literally nit picking and then some.
Inoue got up and stopped nery. Lennox Lewis had to wait for rematch to get revenge. People should be kow towing to inoue about how he got up and went about business the way he did, rather than concentrate on being knocked down.

Quick answer: Yes.


It's all totally notional and 100% unprovable and should just be treated as a bit of fun.

Personally, I think activity has to come into it. For example, Beterbiev is an absolute beast of a fighter, but of late he has been sidelined with injuries and that counts against him and takes him out of the conversation for the time being. Crawford has fought once in 17 months, because... Well, just because. I think that counts against him.

Inoue is the man walking the walk on a regular basis.

if activity is a requirement, thats going to be a very small list nowadays.
