Not to take anything away from Ford who was impressive and showed a lot of grit, but I wonder if Kholmatov could have survived to the final bell, it was razor thin.

Sure, Kholmatov would have not survived any more time if it wasn't the end of the fight, but it was. I don't see how it's called off with 7 seconds left and Kholmatov was ahead on the cards.

You know how many clean punches can be landed on a defenseless man in 7 seconds?

First of all.... great fight!! Props to both guys.... rematch! Regarding the standing 8 count..... I am 100% for bringing back the standing 8 count. No fighter trains to "take a knee". Sometimes a fighter gets buzzed and is covering up...... no problem. Sometimes it is better to NOT throw punches, protect yourself, and weather the storm. Referees demanding you "punch back".... opening yourself up to getting hit..... should be banned. Keep your mouth shut and only give legitimate commands. Call a standing 8 count (which counts as a knockdown and a loss of a point), evaluate the fighter, and make your determination if they can continue or not. Very simple.

Good fight. Respect to both fighters. Wanna force the ref's hand to stop a fight? Just turn your back and see if he cares about how many seconds is left in the round. He could have at least done the oldest trick in the book. Spit the gum shield out. Anything to allow you to get to the finish line.

First of all, I'm not a conspiracy believer and don't think anything shady was actually done. However that being said the way it ended was a rather...interesting enough given the circumstance that I would understand why some people would think the stoppage is rather fishy. In reality I think the ref was put in a split second decision spot and made the wrong call in hindsight, but without any ill intent.

That being said I wonder who Ford will fight next, or whether if Kholmatov will get a rematch or something.

He should have been given an 8 count
    But that wasn’t the case
i know, with that said it still makes even more sense to hold or take a knee and not just try to move the last 30seconds of the fight

i tought he had it in the bag, im heartbroken for him, but turning the way he did was a huge huge mistake, honestly a clinch or taking a knee was the best decision, easier said than done though thinking clear in a war like that is something that comes with experience, something that neither of them had at that stage
