Imagine what Benavidez is thinking? There goes my PayDay while my team runs their mouth and just blew it for me!!MaksBox

There are so many ways to read this situation.
"Canelo held out for Charlo for an easy pay day, but PBC wouldn't play ball, so they split."
"PBC promised Charlo in writing somewhere, Canelo held them to it and when the financial issues hit them, they switched it up to Munguía, who is with Golden Boy/DAZN. Canelo probably said he'll get a bigger piece of the pie if he cuts PBC out of the picture and deals directly with Eddie & Oscar."
"Canelo knows the only big fight PBC has for him is Benavidez, but he probably wants to save that fight for one of his last before he retires. Maybe let David earn a title at 175, so Canelo can get him there."
"Canelo read the writing on the wall and knew PBC was going to have trouble securing finances for his future fights and left a bad situation."
Time will tell what the scenario really is. I personally hope Munguía is on for May 4th. No Berlanga, no Crawford.MaksBox likes this.

Everything going on with Canelo makes me wonder....how much longer will he be able to retain the whole "face of boxing make 35 million a fight" status. What has he done that was exciting or big time in years? Get beat up by Bivol, look pedestrian against Ryder, pull little Charlo up two weight classes for an obvious paycheck? Refusing to fight Benavidez for years? Now fighting lower level comp for easy wins?
Are his fans really this "ride or die" with the dude? It's weird. I can't figure out why anyone is still on the Canelo hype train at this point. I am a Bud fan, I am a fan of his style and skills. But in the year or two he has left, if he fights garbage fights for $90 dollar ppv's, while holding onto the belts and refusing to fight Boots after this Spence rematch is either done or cancelled... I wouldn't buy them.
I mean do Canelo fans think he is just such a nice guy and so cool as a person that they will give him $90 to fight crap guys? I don't get that mentality. He has become basically a joke, the fact that there is still this "get the big Canelo money fight" lottery speaks volumes to how silly his fanbase is.Last edited by Theshotyoudontsee; 02-26-2024, 04:51 PM.
