Oscar would hold a proper distance and use his jab to keep Canelo from getting on the inside. Both guys tire a little so thats a wash there. But Oscar has the advantage of speed and even though Canelo slips slower jabs, under no uncertain terms does he slip faster jabs like Mayweather and Oscar have. Oscar by UD.Last edited by richardt; 02-23-2024, 02:04 PM.Comment

Canelo would’ve beat Vargas I agree. But not ODLH or tito. Both were just too good. ODLH was too fast jab too good feet too educated. There’s no fighters today that could’ve dealt with the old time guys. Bums like GGG will get in the HOFame with 1 elite win(kell Brook). Canelo would’ve lost to a lot of the great fighters of the last 20 years as would most of todays fighters would
That was one of the most disrespectful things that Paulie has ever said about Canelo (and he's said plenty). Canelo absolutely wipes the floor with Fernando Vargas; a complete career-ending ass beating worse than Tito gave him. Both Paulie and Chris Algieri defended their arguments well, but I lean toward Algieri's argument. As great as ODLH was, he was a noticeably different and declined fighter at 154lbs and above. JMW Canelo pressures and outworks this version of ODLH for a clean but competitive UD win.Comment

At 154 Vargas clearly was the better fighter and it’s not even close. Vargas had wins over campas, Winky, and Quartey. Not to mention he gave one of the best 154 pounder ever in Trinidad, the fight of his life to that point. Trinidad would’ve massacred canelo at 154. What are Canelo’s best wins at 154? Trout? Baldomir? Cintron? 40 yr old Mosley or Beefy Smith? I think Vargas is a better 154 pounder than canelo was and the version of Oscar that beat Vargas beats any version of canelo that fought at 154.

P4P Canelo can win or lose to any those guys except Vargas. Vargas is the only one he'll wipe out IMO. Usually respect Malignaggi's analysis on fights, but it's been obvious for years that he always has some slight towards Canelo so it's hard to take any of his quotes on this seriously. Canelo would fit right in with all those matchups between all those guys in that little golden era of 154lbs.Comment

The best Delahoya was UNDER 147. At 147 Delahoya looked sluggish and he lost that beautiful jab.Comment
